The map was Kubra Dam as MEC. I must admit I was a little gitty playing as commander for the first time, but loved it.
I noticed in previous matches some commanders run around alot during a game but it being my first time, decided to find some place great to hide and take it from there. And frankly after playing I think a commander is more effective if he focuses soley on commanding. I laid arty down continually, never ending, ever chance I got . During the whole match I only tk'ed around 5 teammates, or so I'd like to think . I tried to avoid laying arty on my own men but when the blip ratio is 10:1 and the flag's turned white the heavy stuff is coming down. It was a 32 player server that was full, but unfortunately I had only 2 (1/2)squads to work with, they did a pretty good job. I used UAV's a lot to assist them. And dropped supplies. My basic focus for that map was protect the back flag that held the airstrip and arty, secondary keeping the middle dam flag, the rest fell into place, with those too objectives kept, we won the map with about a 30 pt spread. If any of the other more experience commanders out there have any advice or tips on how to be a better commander , let 'er rip! |

It is better when you have more squads to command. At the same time, it can get hectic. But being commander has its own element of fun way different from runnin and gunnin. Nice work!

ITs SOOOOO irritating when commanders are running around. I want to throw them into a rotor blade or drive over them in my tank. I really recomend you all try it. Its kinda fun thou its a totally different game. |

if more sqaudleaders request things its better. Not excessivly, but every so often. like, i don't know how many times i have had supplies forever and didn't know where to drop it. I just go on best judgement, and it usually sucks, people need to WANT more.

Best place to drop supplies is near Tanks and APCs on your team when they are sitting still firing at the enemy.. For example(in wake island when your teams tank is on the other side of a bridge firing at the enemy to keep them from crossing. Its a great idea to drop a supply crate next to him so that he can repair himself when hit with rockets.) Also good to drop supply crates on roof tops that your team is camping near a flag. The more of an active role you can play as in giving squads commands to attack and defend certain positions the more they will listen. you would follow up a command by droping a supply crate for that high priority squad you've given a command to defend or attack. Drop the crate where they will be before they get to there attack spot or drop the crate where they will be defending. Just some pointers I've picked up.

I hate it when you have 4 snipers sniping the un-cap when you have absolutely no flags but your own un-cap. They should be helping the team save their points. So i just drop an ammo crate on them and they usually don't make their way back there

Thanks for the advice fellas,
I've noticed a new message when firing artillery at times. "Artillery - Shot Over" or something to the effect. I take it, it means Artillery over shoots the map. What causes this? just a random effect? Proximity of friendlies with LOS to target? |

I recall a convo on the topic with my roomie whose done a stint in the military,.. He likes pointing out where the terminology goes wrong in the war flicks we watch. He'd never be bothered with PC games, beyond Grand Turismo or Need for Speed. |
