This is what an EA employée just posted in the official forums when asked about another patch:

I´d always taken it for granted, that BF 2 would look forward to a similar patch history as BF 1942...

It just sounds like to me that he's trying to cover his ass legally and not make promises that could be broken and hold him accountable. you've got the community to ask for changes and this will make EA make patches. no patches=a drop in players and BF2 community=less money for EA.

Must be they're about to announce BF3....heh. Naa.
These days, that statement of no new patches forthcoming may be more real than you think. Besides the bickering of this weapon or that vehicle needing changes...I can just deal with the game how it was patched. I doubt DICE or EA even wants to deal with minor tweaks now. So many games I've seen have a "latest" tweak patch. After awhile..that just doesn't make good business sense to their mass buyers. |

No Grim, read Titans post again, he was speaking of the "next addOn AFTER SF".
I feel used too. We should have amatch. BFN vs Dice Staff, whoever wins, is allowed to play a major role in the further development of the franchise. I'm also voting for a new publisher. Any suggestions? (Notice, I'm meaning the publisher in EA not the producers and assistant producers behind the Project that BF2 was) |

The next update is going to be the SF expansion. You cannot expect EA to focus all there attention on a stupid FREE update when there is money to made on a $$ expansion $$ update...

Hi Trident (said in chorus like at an AA meeting)
EA/Dice has already set presidence with BF1942. I believe (if my pea sized brain recalls correctly) that they patched up to v1.6 as well as pumped out their commercial mods RtR, SW and then BFV. So it appears to me that they should still be able to work on patches to correct issues that are still outstanding as well as crank out a commercial mod to bilk us silly end users into buying. I'd like to think that at least Dice is concerned about a quality product and the need to fix things that got overlooked or couldn't be fixed for EA's original release date. I don't blame Dice altho I'm sure they want to make the best dollars they can too. I blame EA for the apparent unconcern on the game's quality assurance and wanting to make more mods to make more money. Boycotting the SF mod isn't enough. I'd suggest boycotting all EA publications but there are too many video addicts for this to fly either. Hi, my name is Gort and I'm a video game addict...

I think since EA got thier claws into dice more and more since '42 then things have gone downhill. I get really annoyed when people slate DICE because although they may have got things a little wrong in the past they have always made sure they have put them right.
Now EA is in bed with them though they are being told what to do by a monster. A boycott of all products a la EA is needed but will never happen. Too many 13-14 year old fanboys who dont know shit. If they leave the game as it is with still so many little bugs then it will do nothing but dent thier already tarnished reputation.
