Default Chopper Whore - Stat Padding Issues

We are running two ranked BF2 64 player servers. Our problem is dealing with the use of choppers to cap flags and stat padding.

I've seen discussion about it and how EA is going to do this or that.

What do we do in the meantime? Kick them? Ban them? Let them do as the please?

We at BFSupreme.com want to follow EA's rules but it is difficult to determine who is actually padding and who is not.

What do you suggest?

I don't see what the big deal is about capping flags with a helo. I mean really? If they want to hover there like retards while I shoot them down with the .50 cal... so be it. I can shoot down a hovering helo with the .50 faster than you can "bail out!" ... and you get twice 4 times the kills with half the effort

What about the chopper that can seat four engineers who do nothing but repair it?

Thats about it. I think that the majority of people who complain about Helo-capping are people who refuse to see the 'Kills opportunity' it presents.
A helo in flight is a fragile thing, and that remains true in this game.
If you can't take it down, you weren't really trying.

Default Helos?

OK, one can shoot down 1 helo in time, but 2 at the same time, impossible.

What about the time it took you to get to an enemy base, kill the defenders and wait for reinforcements. During this time a full enemy helo comes and hovers 10 secs to erase all that took you about 10 mins to accomplish.

Of course I could shoot the helo down, but also risk being killed in return and not getting the flag back when the helo leaves.

Worse is that as soon as the helo has taken the flag back, a whole bunch of enemy spawns up around and you are left totally defenseless.

Not everyone can be rambo and some don't want to be either.

Let's try to keep some respect in this game while we can and don't go over to overdrift for arcaders.

Wow. thats harsh. I hate those situations that turn the whole thing into a warzone.

/Deadpan/

Sorry if the sarcasm offends, I truly believe that the adversity presented in these situations was intentional to the game. A decent driver in an MEC buggy+Gunner will own a Blackhawk.
In the case of the engineer in back repairing, newsflash. He's in the most un-protected spot in that chopper. He has to be for him to do his job, fixing the chopper. If he was in any other position, it wouldnt work, '-cause- he needs access to his kit.
Pop him. Throw some rounds in through that wide open door. Got a grenade? toss that in, they love that even more. The grunts with the bloopers, you rock at this.
There is,
-ALWAYS-
A way.
Ive yet to see an 'absolute' -anything- in this game.
As for rapidly changing fortunes on a battlefield, well, im imagining that would be a commonplace circumstance.
Where'd that list of Murphys Laws of combat get to?

The whole point is that if you're getting raped by choppers, shoot the dam things down... or atleast shoot at them. Do that enough times in a match and they will get tired of getting shot to shit and stop flying around like jack asses.

I mean come on... adapt your defense to deal with it.[/b]

The whole point is...DICE is looking into the chopper deal and will address it in the next patch. How? Wait and see.

It's a matter of DICE's adjusting the gameplay as they judge necessary.
Just as in BF1942 early patch..certain arial gameplay adjustments were made by DICE.

I expect DICE adjustment in patch won't come close to satisfying everyone.

I have a feeling I won't be satisfied.

yeah, if you have an unlocked gun, you can take out the pilot easily. but the thing is, if there are smart players in the passenger seats of the chopper they will hit f1 and fly the damn thing.

Not meaning to single anyone out here, but the point Im trying to make, is the answer is there if you look for it, and want it enough.

Its easy too take a chopper down or at least scare him away.

I have seen the F2 position on an FAV/Vodnik/DPV rip up a chopper. Add too that small arms fire from the rest of your SQUAD (yes teamwork, work together to bring him down) and you are set, you might not always get the kills but if you can scare him away from the area to repair then at least that keeps him busy for a while!!

It's not as easy as that to take down a chopper whore on map like Kubra Dam.

Kubra Damn (by the way) is the fave for chopper whores, Mashtur is the second alternate fave, from what I gather stats.

DICE is gonna make some changes.

DICE has always over favored the pilot aspect of the BF series.

That map is jammed pack full of AA vehicles. And the jets are amazing on that map too. It is hard to hover on that map without someone lighting you up. So...... I fail to see why you have such a hard time with helos?

cmon guys, cry me a fricken river, the helo's are part of the game, they are a good part of it too. there is ALWAYS a way to take out ANY vehicle in this game. y dont we just start bitchen about tanks while we are here? i mean come on, the helo's arnt any harder to take out then a tank. in fact, i find them easier to take down,

it takes 3-4 AT rockets to take out a tank, 3-4 tank rounds.

it takes 2 to take out a BH. 2 tank rounds, 2 AA rockets, 5 sustaned seconds of MG fire from a vodnik. try doing that with a tank.

im sick of ppl complaining bout asspects of this game.

Ok, let's take out all the vehicles. We'll get Dice to shrink all the maps up seeing as it is too far to walk/run from flag to flag... wait we don't need flags because they take too long to flip.

Oh wait, they already have a game like that... HL CounterStrike.

Default what ever

I wonder if we are playing the same game.

Seldom do u get teamwork to down a helo.

Most of the time, I am alone (playing defense) at a base when the enemy chopper comes with full load. The choppers like taking over an abandoned bases.

Since I am alone, I don't have the weapon to shoot down a chopper with.
Neither do I have a MG jeep since ppl feel attackers have the right to steal them while I am the gunner.

I just feel that the defenders should have a chance to shoot the driver as well, when the driver lands the chopper and tries to take the flag. All should dismount.

Flags should be taken by land, not by air nor sea.

A navy never took a port by sea, unless they used marines to take the port. The navy can blockade the port, but they still don't have the port.

Should a zodiac close to flag take it over?

It was not until airborne came, that air could take over a location.

Even, in Korea and Nam, did a helo in the air take over an enemy base?
If so for how long?

Stop taking the lazy way ppl, put your feet on the ground.

I see many tactics of landing a chopper a bit from a flag and infiltrate the base with attackers from the helo. The helo, as a gunship, can use it's gunners to cover the infiltrators. This is how to use a helo and use teamwork.
