The only real reason to unlock the L85 is full auto. But remember, full auto makes acccuracy decrease EXPONENTIALLY. I unfortunately unlocked the medic rifle first, and here's how it works. It has a scope so that you can SEE more clearly at longer distances. Seeing is not necessarily hitting with bullets. I used my weapon the other day on a somewhat laggy server trying to hit a guy that was about 15-20 feet away. I could see his image very well, but I never once made a hit on him. He ended up killing me with an assault rifle after 25 bullets richoted right around him. He killed me in 4 shots.
Now some people say that single shot mode has better accuracy, this is true, but there are great disadvantages to single shot. The most important would be the amount of hits one can make on a target before that target finds cover. I commonly find myself getting more "kill damage assists" then kills with the L85 because I will hit the sucker 5 times and he will hide until someone find him and gets that sixth hit. Other disadvantages are the common ones, like running into a squad of men and only have single shot. When every guy takes at least three shots to kill, singe shot mode just won't cut it. I use my L85 for two things, close combat, where it does decently, and sniper annoyance. In auto/burst mode you hit with about every third bullet. First hits center, next hits right high, next hits left low, then it hits center again. I say sniper annoyance, becasue you can never actually kill a sniper with the L85, you simply scare him into moving somewhere else. If you play medic all the time and you need a close combat weapon, then grab the L85, but if you are just looking for a good and useful weapon unlock, go with the other unlocks we have mentioned in other threads. Remember, these unlock weapons are "alternatives" to the standard weapons, not replacements.

Luckily, i justpicked one up in MP from a kit. I was baout 70m away from a guy, who was lyin down. My sister was on the laptopn on webcam so my ping was 200-400 most of the time. I still managed to kill him in 4-5 shots, single mode.
Am thinkin this is the gun to get as i play medic all the time, accept wen theres a specific job to be done. LOL, i killed a guy with the defrib the other day. was mint |
