Default Aircraft question

Some of the jets are 2 seaters. When your in the bombers seat, how do the dam bombs work? I can't seam to hit anything with them. Are they heat seaking or something? I mean do they first have to "lock on" to something before you fire them like the stingers? Or do they work like the missles on the helos?

You have to be locked on for them too work.

They are laser guided so as long as you have them on your screen you will be able to hit the target.

WOW that seems like a very short ammount of time to get a lock on and fire before the target is gone from the targeting screen

Yeah you need to have a pilot who you can communicate with. Makes it a lot eaiser for you to tell them to swing back around a certain area again.

Used well they are lethal. During matches I actually use them while being the commander, saves me just hiding behind a building

They are a real bitch to use... It seems to me that when I fire the pilot ends up flying past the taget and then I lose site of the target.. and of course 9 times out of 10 it wipes out a Team Member. Knowing damn well it's an accident he doesn't forgive the tk.

Default Using a Level Approach

I was co-pilot with a good flyer during several game rounds. I had problems aiming also. It seemed to me that the pilot was flying the bomber plane like a fighter. He was maneuvering all over the map, sometimes upside down, other times flying outside the map and then within 2 seconds was flying over a target that was too fast for me to see until we flew over it. I ended up sending missiles everywhere but to the right target.

There are many flying approaches to targets.
1. level approach
2. dive approach
3. pop-up approach.

I will only go thru level approach (dive approach is as in a dive bomber diving over the target and releases bombs then goes up again. Pop-up is to fly low and come up to release bombs or guided missiles and then drops altitude to escape.)

Level Approach

Here the pilot spots the target from far away 500 m or so and flying levelly approaches the target and within 100 m releases bombs or guided missiles after lock. This way the co-pilot can spot the target in time. However, it can be easier for AD to shoot down the plane. This means the approach should be from the rear or flank of the target. Once the bombs are released the plane can maneuver to a flank to escape returning fire.

Read flying-tactic sites on different ways to use level approaches.

So pilots if you are flying a one-seater or fighter then use maneuvers, but if you have a 2-seater, then fly the plane as a bomber and not as a fighter.

Over
