Default She'll be coming round the mountain...

Anyone else notice this rediculous way to not die while falling off a mountain (or taking a shortcut). Although thinking about it I'm not sure how much of this will get the "omg exploit haxxor cheat" crowd into a hissy fit so I'll try to keep it vague.

Suffice it to say you can quite easily stop yourself from falling due to some shoddy engine checks that I accidentally found while running too close to the end of a cliff and trying to open a parachute to save the embarassment. I find it almost rediculous that someone didn't pick this up during testing.

On an unrelated note hello to all my fellow anti tankers / part time engineers.

It still happens if you sprint down the stairs.

did you guys notice that whenever you jump off the cliff with a parachute open, but if you land on the cliff before you land on the bottom surface, your parachute will automatically release and you will fall to your death. this happens to me alot. guess i have to jump farther away to avoid this.

Hello to you too mezz, I'm a full time med/engy (most headaches of any classes EVER!)

Jump off that cliff like you stole something and base jump it!

And yes I've sprinted down stairs but I didnt glide in mid air only to land and break my legs/neck such as the fine soldiers in BF2.

*run down stairs* OH SNAP I TRIPPED AND BROKE MY LEGS SOME HOW!

I actually played 42 for quite a while. I bought RTR which didn't really impress and then got sucked into the MMO scene with a slight AO addiction which ended about a year ago after I got bored and made a bot to buff some guildies which quickly made me get banned.

I noticed the instant death stairs scenario but never found a way to stop yourself from falling and I definitely put enough hours into the game. Which means I'm even more suprised that if the same quirk exists in 42 that I never found it.

I am not sure if you are talking about the "running-up-the-hill-to-avoid-dying-
while-sliding-down-2000-verticle-feet-of-cliff" exploit, but it was in the last BF, so I figure they left it in this one. The thing that gets me is the paradropping out of a helo at 500 feet, while pressing 9 all the while, and only opening your chute *after* you hit the ground. Though the jump off a 2-story building, get 10% less health, jump off a ladder rail 1/2 feet off the ground and break your neck glitch can be frustrating as well.

This glitch works slightly differently, as far as I remember the running thing in 42 was only enough to slow down dying, if you fell far enough it still killed you (either that or I never really bothered to look into it much).

The BF2 glitch can stop all forward/downward movement by forcing your character to hit an artificial ceiling which on certain maps can let you get into a decent mine laying / anti tanking position before the armour has a chance to get further up the hills. For example, 2 - 3 minutes running down the road (30 - 45 seconds in a vehicle maybe slightly more) or 5 seconds not dying while falling off a cliff.
