Default Yeah, Im the the freak...

... most of you think full of shit about the EA, GAMESPY,GAMECENTERakaGamespot debacle.

take a looky here,

IGN For Sale
Gaming mega-site on the lookout for buyers

According to the NY Post, IGN Entertainment is seeking buyers for their internet empire. Reports say the company is looking to sell for nearly $850 million, and may go public. Great Hill partners purchased IGN in 2003 for $26 million. Lehman Brothers, a global finance firm, is helping the company explore its options and large media conglomerates, such as Viacom, are among IGN's top suitors.

According to Media Metrix, IGN and its sister sites attract over 25 million users a month. This includes GameSpy, RottenTomatoes, FilePlanet, TeamXbox, and VE3D. IGN also provides online gaming technology for hundreds of video game developers.

IGN could not be reached for comment as of press time.

LOL, Im gonna call it, EA buys GAMESPY.

Yeah but your BF2 is lacking "ONLINE FEATURES will be provided by GAMESPY" because either EA got cold feet or GAMESPY got poopy at EA smoochin on the girl down the street GAMECENTER.

If EA buys Gamespy we are fucked. They would own gaming on the web then.

Rexxie would never sell out though, would he? ...........

More confirmation on GAMESPY vs GAMECENTER and the reason the launch was botched...

from the patch update page,

Battlefield 2 v1.01 Update (13.4MB)
EA GAMES (readme file)
GameSpot GameCenter (primary download partner)
3D Gamers
Happy Puppy
FileFront
FileShack
WorthPlaying
BF2Files.com
ActionTrip
XFire
Games-Fusion
nVidia
Gamershell
ComputerGames.ro

HEY Wheres the link for GAMESPY.

from the readme,

with these fixes and more, it should be much easier to get in to a game of Battlefield 2 and that much easier to play it the way you want to play it. This update also adds support for the game inside GameCenter, including the ability to launch ranked game servers.
LOFL.

a brief summary,

1. Game went Gold

2. Week later GAMECENTER of GAMESPOT announces exclusive DEMO for BF2 as part of their "GAMECENTER launch specatacularrrrrrr". They did provide mirrors BUT the only folks who could not mirror it for 24hrs was GAMESPY.

3. Several days later EA makes post on Bf2 site about how there were gonna be some funky new rules for "logging in".

4. Post after post at gamespy sight about how they were not supporting game till patched, how they had no idea what EA was doing ....even though it was posted 10 days earlier on Bf2 site.

5. Game launches, all the ONLINE FEATURES are WHACKED, server stats, lag, log in, password issues memory leaks and more importantly 3rd PARTY GAME BROWSER SUPPORT ex. GAMESPY, ASE.

which is kind of funny considering p.14 of your USER MANUAL.

6. patch comes out, announcing,
Battlefield 2 v1.01 Update (13.4MB)
EA GAMES (readme file)
GameSpot GameCenter (primary download partner)

and,

these fixes and more, it should be much easier to get in to a game of Battlefield 2 and that much easier to play it the way you want to play it. This update also adds support for the game inside GameCenter, including the ability to launch ranked game servers.

which again is kind of funny dont you think considering p.14 of your USER MANUAL.

So let's see GameCenter's browser supports BF2. EA is backing GameCenter...and this incorporated browser support is a surprise how?

You're looing too far into this, sfumato. EA/DICE never told anyone how the server browser was going to be implemented. It was merely licensed from GameSpy. Not seeing the demo on FilePlanet the first day is no surprise considering their a business and EA would specifically not want them to host the demo when their partner GameSpot/GameCenter can.

If it's in the manual then it only means EA already had a partnership with GameStop at the time the manual was printed...
