Depends on the class you play, the map, the terrain, the vehicle you are in, and about a thousand other things.

Give me a couple of specifics (like your favorite class and play style) and I'll see what I can recommend for you.
I'm always anti-tank and usualy on flat surfaces with houses.

What I meant by play style was are you aggressive or passive, do you use cover or like to get out in the open in a firefight, do you find yourself on foot or a vehicle more, so on and so forth,

Well the obvious anti-helo tactic for AT is to stay low and out of sight until the helo is in a position (hovering to cap a point for example) where you are at least 90% sure you can hit him, then launch an anti-tank round at it and hope the pilot is foolish enough for you to have time to reload and hit him again.

When shooting against the transport helos probably the best tactic to get kills is to fire into the cargo/troop area and hope the splash damage kills some of the passengers (it's near impossible to kill the pilot this way). This move also works with the M203/GP30 with even better results by the way.

This works with anything that has splash damage. The APC gun is fun to shoot up the heli's cargo area too. I played a whole map just gaurding a flag shooting up a blackhawk.

DO YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM? i put it on troubleshooting but nobody has answerd in 1 week

I registerd my bf2 game on ea under the name of "gunfodda" and it worked fine but then I decided to change my name to "777DeathWing777" and so i made a new account by going to "mannage accounts" and selecting "new account", and so i started playing and got a fair few points from winning tons of games and all that. but when i went to BFHQ and checked my profile it had not registerd any of games i had played or points i had earned! now i have had that profile for weeks and have played many many games and i am still on zero points.

help pleeeeez!

Never heard of the issue before, and at a guess, hit up GameSpy or EA on that one,...

Sorry. In the troubleshooting section, 'No news iz bad news'.
I guess.

Default Sniper comments.

While I understand Knyte doesn't like snipers I think they do have value, besides claymores. I usually play sniper but I don't just camp in one spot for extended periods of time (I must be breaking a traditional sniper credo, oh well). I hit a spot, shoot some rounds let more team roll in, and haul ass somewhere else. I like to find spots to flank the enemy and take out their snipers, plus as a squad leader I can run longer and faster to different spots and let my squad spawn on me to again flank the enemy. Plus as a sniper, it's pretty rewarding killing a pilot in a chopper with the barrett. It's rare, but nice.

Yeah, you may be a moderate exception, but they're still overall worthless.

I've watched 3 games just this week where teams lost because the last guys alive were Snipers who were too wrapped up in kill-whoring to cap a point so their team could respawn (they were playing Lone Wolf as usual). They sat up in their cozy little snipe-spot and kept TRYING (not succeeding) to kill the enemy until they were hunted down and terminated with the score being somewhere in the 100s to 0.

The whole time I've been playing I think I've seen a Sniper kill a helo pilot maybe twice, and the time it took them to do it could've still been better spent capping a point, period.

Then naturally we have divurgent opinions. Some guys as snipers are trying to be kill whores, and I guess I'm the exception, while I do want the kills (a leftover from the straight fragfest days of CoD?) I also want to help the team as whole in a support role. Fending off other classes trying to get to the cap point. And you can't tell me that the majority of the people playing BF2 don't want a ton of kills.
As far as trying to shoot the chopper down with the Barrett and being and getting a kill here and there, it doesn't hurt to try. Plus If you can get a chopper every once in while it's kind of nice. Sometimes I feel as if the sniper bashing is by people that aren't good snipers, and/or get killed by them a lot. In your case though, you are approaching the game in a more tactical fashion, and your focus is on cap points (I could be wrong). As well as seeing your aforementioned games lost due to some guys not trying to take a cap and let others spawn. Which is lame, I agree, and I can appreciate that viewpoint.
Ok, I'm done with the sniper good/bad thread, I just want to enjoy the game in spite of the lag, and work well with my team.
Thanks for all the other strategery!

Thanks to all who contributed the hints/tips. I may have missed it when I was reading through, but I haven't seen a help for landing/hovering helicopters. I know how to take off and kill a few guys, but I can't figure out how to easily land the helo without having to crash to the ground, usually scaring the crap out of my passengers. Anyone know how to land/hover like a seasoned Blackhawk pilot?

Yes lots of practice.

Fire up a 64 player server for yourself. Get in the blackhawk/cobra and throw it around a bit and get to know its limits. Its the best way to see how hard you can push it, You get to learn the point of no return if you have too swoop low to attack and not slam into the ground.

With hovering you just need to release the throttle and center your mouse. You can tap it to get a nice steady hover.

I hate those snipers as well. The only reason I've played a sniper is to kill snipers. Once I unlocked th m95 it was much better. Once I capped a hover chopper trying to cap a flag it was great. It does in fact penetrate the glass and made a good screen shot hehehe sniperhunting is always fun though. A well placed headshot always kills.
