More like anti-sanity missiles. I have only been able to hit a chopper that is hovering, comming at me slowly or going away slowly. These things can't touch planes. They always seem to go right past them when the plane is perpendicular to me, and when its going away the missiles can't keep up. And the same with the choppers, if they are perpendicular and moving at a decent speed the missiles just go right by it. Bloody annoying things.

Amen brother. I've given up on trying to take out any aircraft with them. I have better luck with the gatling gun on the carrier. On the flip side, I don't worry about them taking me down very often either.

They are waaaay too weak. For one, flares should not be respawned or reloaded. It makes them too powerful. Also, the missles have to track longer and better.
The missles were good the first few days, but after pilots started getting used to them, bases become raped!

I actually flagged this up when the demo came out. Its what, a 3 second lock on? The planes get notified when this is happening hence the flares. So now that the pilots are getting better its, beep bee... bang planes hit the AA position already.
Your only hope is to wait until the plane has gone past and hope that they're not intelligent enough to pre-emptively destroy the AA. The other pilots who know a bit about the afterburners (forget about helis they can just pop wherever) can easily outrun or climb and loop with them far faster than a missile can do the same. |

Could be just "the return of Cherry", but shit... And I was thinking the same thing, the AA missiles could use some help. I've taken down a few planes with them, but not often. I've found the only way to really get some success is watch out- wait till someone is firing at the plane with an MG or something. The planes alarm will be going off from the machinegun fire (which won't do much damage), so they seem to sometimes miss the fact that a missile is locked on. Or maybe I just got lucky, dunno. But they could definitely use some beefing up. ![]()

Its very hard to hit jets I agree but Helicopters are different. You just have to be very patient and keep your lock and hope they throw out flares, as soon as they have done this and you get your lock back...fire both missiles really quickly and you will normally get a kill

Except my missiles usually go around the chopper. Its as if they are saying to each other:
"Oh hello Fred, lovely weather we're having today isn't it?" "Yes quite. I wonder if Bonnie wants to join us for tea later this afternonn." "Mmm I should think so, unless, does she usually go out with Roger on a Thursday night?" "You know now that you mention it I think she does-" "HOLY SHIT A FUCKING HELICOPTER IS COMMING RIGHT FOR US!!!1111" "SHIT SHIT TURN TURN!111!!1!" "I'M TRYING DAMN YOU!1!!!!" "Phew that was close. It could of really messed up our plans for this evening." "Mmmm yes quite. I wonder, is Miss Marple on tonight?" "Oh good heavens I shall have to check."

I think its sortof realistic,... everything Ive seen or read implies your -supposed- to fire at an aircraft as its going away,...The only heat sig the stinger sees is its engine, and when firing head on, you get nothing, perpendicular, not much more.
Mind you my only sources of literature on the subject are 'Seal Team Seven' and the like,.. but hey. Whatre you going to do? |

I have this problem too. The other day, was playing with a really good pilot in my clan. He'd hear me lock on, disappear, come out of no where, and either:
1.blow me up 2.shoot me 3.I'd lock on, then he'd blow me up 4.I'd lock on, then he'd shoot me. I had never been so frustrated in a game.

Personally, I find that the AT missles work WAY better than the fixed AA, (for heli's, anyway).
See, for the gunner to have ANY chance of using the heavy stuff, the pilot must hover in place for just a few seconds. That's your cue.... I've found that shooting slightly below the heli and then bringing the crosshair, (or circle, or whatever you choose to call it), up to center on the target, smacks it right into the underside of Mr. Death From Above. Now, I'm not much for flying around in heli's, more of a groundpounder myself. Hence, I can't tell how MUCH damage it does. All I know is that when you hit all but the heaviest transport choppers, smoke instantly pours out. Plus, they suddenly don't want to bother with shooting at their intended target any longer.....they just want to get back to the airstrip for repairs..... Planes are another story.....they do need to do something that evens the odds without throwing balance to the proverbial wind.... |

Helicopters hovering..ok they move slower.
A jet can go off your site of view and return 15 seconds later and know your still sitting in your guided missle emplacement and kill you every time. For fast flying jets, DICE intended YOUR aircraft to do most of the work. A hit by one of your ground missles can help. I've yet to see my ground fired missles actually hit a jet tho. |

If I fire at a jet the missile goes out of sight and usually hits a teammate. And heffiom I wait until they deploy their flares, so like we have all said many times, its not flares causing the problem its just the fact that the missiles suck.
