They were talking about removing "co-op" months ago. When I first heard it I was like "so what, the bots are idiots", but after seeing the BF2 bots in action I'm a little disappointed that we won't be able to play against them in multi.

Bots are great for LAN matches. You can take your team of human players and go after certain things and try tactics against bots. The bots in BF2 are really good so they would be great in MP coop.
If you have not played against bots at 10-1 odds, then you have no idea what its like. It is a nice option to have. I am not saying they are better than human players. I play online, but prefer to also have the option to play against bots as we have had in the past BF games. |

Am I missing something here.
I played COOP with the BF2 Demo this weeked. It was only the 16 player map and we played with 32 bots. It works just fine. One guy starts the map and the others join directly to his IP address. richcz3

I play against bots... Never online(I hate people). I'm fine with singleplayer being the only option. But, I still think it's a bad decision. If they just add them many people will be happy about it.

The only reason I got good with the guns is using the bots for target practice in SP inbetween when I go online. Helped a lot!

Hi all. Glad to see it is possible to use bots in lan games. Not many of us can muster up more than 5 or 6 people and without bots even counterstrike with its tiny levels gets lonely!
Any idea how you actually join a single player game? All machines I want to connect to the game are behind a router. With Counter strike I had to open a few ports on the router, then use the WAN address not the PC's ip address to get it to work. I only know one port that needs to be open for BF2 and thats 16567. I then go into the ip search in multiplayer but it doesn't find the WAN address or the ip of the PC the server is on. any ideas?????? |

The only reason it would be masked is if I haven't got the right ports open on the router. For Counterstrike I had to open several to let people view the server and enter it. But I have no idea what ports BF2 needs open! Guess I'll wait till the manual is about!
