Part of my doesnt like it but the other, majority, could care less as it is gonna give me more time to upgrade my comp as its gonna be a hog. Plus being that i dont think i could be able to run it on my current comp it decreases the time gap that i will have to defeat to catchup to the top ranked peeps in stats.

I really hope its not another Vietnam.
I played that game for a total of 3 hours....3 hours I want back. Hopefully BF2 will compensate me :P

I would at least hope then that they could release a demo, but I won't hold my breath on that. I did see a rumor somewhere that they said it was possible in February, but we'll see.
At least a demo could tide everyone over. I remember playing the original BF1942 demo nonstop until the actual release, and that was only one map. |

i heard that a demo might be released when the game is released, which sucks because that means that we wont be able to get really hyped up, or pissed off, before its release
and BFV isnt so bad without the lag, with my new internet i dont lag at all and it is actually quite fun

Like I've said before, never believe realease dates. For whatever reason, any time a company gives a release date, it never happens. In fact I don't ever recall any game coming out when it was supposed to when it was originally announced.
As far as the delays are concerned in this case, I highly doubt it is because they want time to polish the code. More than likely it is because they want time to get buisness matters worked out before the game goes gold so they'll be ready to rake in the profits. I'm still not sure whether this deal will ultimately help or hurt the BF franchise. Seeing that EA is more geared toward consoles, this could be the last we'll see of BF. Then again, if there's a strong enough earning potential to continue the series, having EA to $back$ the BF series could be a good thing. We'll see.

I primarily disliked BFV because of the crappy engine. Just because a game has cool weapons and a pretty menus does not mean that you will be able to play the game or enjoy playing it. I only played it for about 2 weeks, the amount of time it took for me to realize it sucked on most ati cards. Though BF originally was that clean or polished, the engine was realative well made and was widely supported by all video cards and comp systems, unlike BFV. My only hope for BF2 would be that the engine is sufficient enough to handle not only the latest graphics and processors, but 6-month to 1 year old systems as well. If they can do that , I will be impressed and know that Dice still has enough potential to continue make good games in the future.
By the way Woody, your point is well taken but not always true. There are independent developers, like Insomniac Games, out there who actually deliver on their promised releases.

BFV was a dissappointment for me as well. The problem is that it went away from what made BF42 great...playability. That is not just graphics issues with lag but the maps were mostly lame and boring and the vehicle play wasn't what it was in 42. I enjoyed the mod EOD many times more than BFV and was sad that BFV killed the play of it :/

Am I one of the only ones who loves BFV? Game has run clean on my system since it came out. (Dual Athlon XP 2400s to a P4 2.8ghz- same Radeon 9800 Pro). Never had problems with lag or graphics. I've only touched BF1942 a few times since BFV.
One thing I do miss though about BF1942 was the comedy factor of people's bodies flying sky high from explosives. Other than that, I love BFV. I imagine BF2 to be more or less a well polished version of DC with a bunch of extras. If it were to that at the least, I wouldn't complain. |

Most online retailers, including ebgames.com now list that BF 2 ships on 1st of June 2005.

Blasphemer! BF42 was best in the 1.2 days, before they decided it would be a good idea to take all the arcade action out by removing TNT jumps and whatnot. |
