I´d have frontpaged this but the login is failing me. Therefor read this from an interview with DICE by a swedish clan: http://www.totalbf2.com/features/int...-interview.php
Is it decided that 64 players will be the maximum? The question is if we will lock it to precisely 64. The official word is yes, we will lock it to 64 players. But if we give the possibility to mod it, is something I cant tell right now. We spoke with Johan Persson at Optihack about a demo and he said it would come at the same time as the BF2 launch? We haven't given any official information about the demo yet. We are looking into what options we have, we are going step by step. right now we are working with the whole team here and all the testers at EA. We are then going to look into about betas and stuff but we haven't decided on any dates yet. Will there be any option to set a player limit on each class, so that we won't see 90% snipers on Omaha Beach for example? We have this feature on our evaluation list, we are tweaking it right now. In all honesty, we were already into this on BF1942 from the beginning. How long does it takes to work your way up? We haven't set a time yet, we are still testing it. I can't say it, but we are talking about a half year or a year. The goal isn't that everyone will have everything after a week, its supposed to hold longer. Partly we have the ranks, and partly we have the medallion system, In the medallion system the Badge is the lowest, then comes Ribbon and Medallion. And many more interesting details worth reading.

Well it might have been nice if they set it to about a month or so to get the upgrade and then made another upgrade for about twice the first time, but o well, theres always teh chance for that later.

i dont think that the good and better upgrades will be on time played, rather skill. example: 1000 kills within 7 says. Paint a successfu target kill 5 times.
Basically, things that would take skill and tactics to get. So, you could get better upgrades faster with skill than someone without much skill could get in a year. |

How about the better you are the worse weapons you get? and when your super good you get WW2 weapons and then WW1 weapons. Maby the coolest guy gets a musket =) what do you guys say?
Cus the current way makes you get better and stronger and all the beginners can't kill you since you got the uber gun. |

I'm thinking to the first weapon upgrade, NavlLord. Just my guess, I was wrong about upgrades after all. Now we have this bad looking system. :/ I can't believe half a year... Seems like this upgrade system was ripped from America's Army's honor system. Once you hit 20 honor you can play as Special Forces. Getting honor can be painfully slow though. I've been playing since day 1 and I still only have 20 honor, but then again it's skill and dedication because I've seen guys with 80+ honor.

I am pretty ambivalent about the player limit thing for the different classes because what ends up happening is the smacktards always get whatever is critically necessary for whatever mission and it gets squandered by virtue of the smacktardery. Also it takes away the freedom which would particularly stunt the fun and variety of the game since sometimes I am always the one doing some specific job and get bored with it and I eventually like to try something else. It just seems too totalitarian or communistic.
Perhaps they could only employ the totalitarian/communistic class limits on the sides that represent countries who actually are totalitarian/communistic. Don't mess with the democratic free will of the American side. |

Huh? Lots of GI's were handed an M16 and told to go kill the enemy.
I wonder tho...sometimes you are the fist to join a server while others are last to, I'm not sure how or why this works in bf1942. The ppl last to join who get what classes are left...map after map might be bummed. I wonder if there will be a random join element implemented at map beginnings to even out who gets first choice at what class. Some bf1942 maps..I'm am always the first on the scene, map after map. |

thats done by your load time, which is done by your ram, the more ram you have the faster your load times, the less ram the slower your load times
i have had experience with all load times, i have used computers with 256mb, 338mb, 512mb, and 1024mb so if you cheap out on your ram then you will always be last, and you cant have a random join thing because that would be bullshit and piss off people who payed a lot of money to have lots of ram to have shorter load times

That is probably true about load times when joining. It might also have to do
with your net connection to server a little bit too maybe. I am saying that it would be a good idea to have it so it's all equalized (if it isn't already with BF1942?). |
