What concerns do you have about BF 2, if any ?
I personaly am a bit concerned about the Infantrie vs. Vehicle balance. In BF 1942, vehicles were an important addittion, but Soldiers were always the crucial backbone. I fear this might change in BF 2, judging statements for Lars Gustavsson. Vehicles are supposed to become even more important now than they are already. And obviously modern vehicles are a lot more powerfull than their 60 years older counterparts. I just hope this game won´t be to focused on vehicles and that Infantrie will get their fair share. I get goosebumbs at the vision of an AH-64 Apache circling my spawnpoint fragging me everytime with "all-killer-HE-missiles" while I spawn and there beeing no mean for me to do to defend myself...

Your fear will be easily solved by FH mod conversion. I'm pretty sure the game won't be great, but the engin will be. If you look at the new screenshots, what do you see? a game that looks exactly like BF42 (in pariculare DC) exept with better textures! so the shit lieies not in the game but in the engin... At least I hope so...
What im worried about is the the commander and team play stuff. Their are too many retards out there that won't listen and the whole games structure will collapse. + sometimes you don't want to be in a team and you want to go alone |

A lot of that will have to do with the type of maps that will be available. I'm sure there will be a variety to keep things diverse. Just like on some of the regular BF maps, some lean more towards close quarter combat rather than vast open terrain where you have to have a vehicle to survive.
From what I've seen so far at least from the infantry standpoint, it's looking pretty good. They're adding more moves such as when you hit the dirt you can roll out of the way, rag-doll physics ( which is my personal favorite ), class equipment and abilities, etc. Don't worry, it'll all be goooooooood.

would the ragdoll thing make you spin asround like in Rainbow 6? (the special-ops game) Cus I really don't like that, I think its really lame. Would it meen if you got shot in the leg you would fall down on you knee. Or are the ragdolls only from the person that is shooting and not from the person that is getting shot? (like in battlefield, when you get shot your "character" looks down at the floor as if you took a bullet to the chest, but for really he is actually looking forward)

rag doll physics means that when you die your body will act as a real one, meaning if a tank shell lands infront of you you will go flying back and roll around and die, hilarity for all who watch
i too am concerned about vehicle balance, thats one of the reasons why i hate DC is because it is very much leaning towards the vehicles rather than infantry and i hate using tanks, i much prefer regular bf where the infantry are the main focus with vehicle support

I'm always concerned when a successfull game orginator goes "semi" to the
next level. History shows... that developers just develop improvements with bells and whistles to sell more copies. They end up losing the diehards untill the next cutting edge developer comes out with the latest and greatest. |

From what I've seen so far it really looks promising, but I still hope that this wont just be Dice's version of Desert Combat.

Like I said in my other post, I think that some of it will incorperate Frank's ideas. After all, him and his team are the ones who brought us from the old days into the modern ones. But I do think that we can't look at BF2 and say, "Hey, this is just a retail version of Desert Combat! CRAP!!!!" Why? Well, it's pretty obvious to see that Battlefield 2 and Desert Combat are based around the same time. Desert Combat now, and BF2 supposedly 5-10 years from now. Big difference? No. Not like 42 and Vietnam, you will see some of the same weapons and vehicles you saw in DC. Hind, M1 Abrams, Hind, RPG, etc. But you'll definatly know which ideas were DICE's and which ones were Frank's. DICE's are the one's that always surprise us.

Actually it's spelled "razzmatazz". It's sorta along the same lines as "Advertising", "Ballyhoo", "Brouhaha", "Bells and Whistles", "Promotion", or "Puffery".
"A flashy action or display intended to bewilder, confuse, or deceive". I personally prefer "Flim Flam".

As in....BF1942 was the shitz good.
I'm hesitant about how adding a modders dream will make it a must buy. Take a basic classic and add as many bells and whistles as you can. C&C tried it and it just burned out after awhile. It's the nature of the beast. I'm just saying that we're all going to have to up our online play. Even a noob could jump in on a BF1942 game. Now we got super BF1942 type learning needed to be even a newb. |
