Ok theres is rumor out about BF2 costing 5-10$ a month like a MMORPG to play.
Before people read that on other newssites and it jumps around the net so a mob of fanboys goes to march to EA headquarter and burn it down, or come here and scream, i like to point out that this rumor is most likley caused by stupid wannabe importants. The 'proof' for the pay-per-month story is this screenshot: ![]() Judge for yourself, for me it looks like you can buy addons or new skins or something. |

That is actually wrong !
My Gamestar magazin stated that BF2 will alow you to "buy" better equipment for your points. So while a normal Soldier might start of with an M-4, you later get the possibility upgarde it to an M-16 or whatever.

Thats the dumbest Idea ever. It should be the other way around, the better you are the worse weapons you get. Im mean whats the point ofhave the experts mowing everybody down with the best guns. Unfortunatly games never maske these challenges and you have to make them u your self (like better a level using only grenades)

to me it looks like you spend points earned by skill durning the game to buy stuff such as mp3 player for vehicles and new equipment and whatnot, no real money should be spent except for the 1 time purchase of the game, unless your moloo, then no money shall be spent at all

Ya well maby i'm wrong. After all you need to motivate the players to actually participate in the action. |

Yup, dont worry about the weapons upgrade.
Other games have done it (Enemy Territory as stated above) and it works well. It motivates people to play less retarded and rewards them. Also the new equipment will always be balanced. So a SAW249 might be the upgraded M60 and be slightly better, but your in no way invulnurable. Same with Sniper Rifles. While newbie gets a PSG rifle, the leet player gets the barnet 0.5 cal.

Yeah, paying monthly to play a game is stupid. Why pay so much money to play one game? I mean, you already spent 30-60 bucks when you bought it in the first place...
If it does cost to play, I aint getting it....

BF2's multiplayer features sound alittle bit too good to be free of monthly payment. i just hope that nothing is charged here. i hated spending my money buying stupid credit for games in order for me to play online. it should every gamer's right to play games online free of charge. except for retail prices.

y'know, shooting down n00bs with a better gun will make it more fun.
i guess buying weapons would stop all this "n00bs don't have a clue wots goin on" so all the n00bs use tanks on repair points 2 make them invincible. of course having a better gun will make you a bigger target for ppl so they will probably aim for you rather than the n00b standing next 2 you! :/

I love ET, especially for it's skill/XP system. Dual-pistols is pretty much a smacktards weapon, you don't really need them. They aren't very accurate, and you're better off using a thompson/mp40. What I really love is the whole class based system. As an engineer, you get promoted for building stuff that your team needs (command posts, mounted machine guns, generators etc), so you don't have to be a really good fragger to be of good use to your team. Covert ops can spot landmines with their binoculars, very useful for the team! And while most smacktards/noobs always go covert ops because they've got sniper rifles, unfortunately not many of them realize that if you have a heigher covert ops rank, you get a more steady aim with the guns, so instead they spend the round trying to snipe people and end up killing like 2 people at max. Pretty sad ![]() Either way, it works. I see a lot of medics reviving people, engineers building stuff, covert ops destroying objectives etc. You can't rid the world of smacktards, but you can try to reward them for playing well. Anyway, a little more on-topic, I heighly doubt it will be P2P, they would have announced that by now if it was. |
