Default Cool BF2 video!

This is the E3 video for BF, official version so it's all pretty. Bump it up to full screen!

http://www.fileplanet.com/files/140000/144901.shtml

Unfortunately with all the talking you can tell it's fake. The fact that the soldiers and the helicopter pilot have the same voice doesn't help either.

Oh yeah, the part where the guy calls in the air strike via "laser designation". That's the job I'm trying to get in the Air Force.

Here's another version of the same video in a larger size without widescreen. I like the widescreen version better, this version of the clip seems more congested to me. http://www.fileplanet.com/files/140000/144928.shtml

Tawain, the clip is all ingame footage but some of it has been redone. The voices first of all are all scripted and were redubbed over the footage. I wouldn't expect the heat ripples on the helicopter and plane either. Just watch the bomb explosion from the plane, it's fake. The detail is too good. Just like the BF1942 intro was completely animated this BF2 sequence has parts animated. Can you really expect that cool laser designation thing? The only really neat stuff I saw was that bullet marks seem to go through certain textures and that when you're running and you go prone you do a role. The really, really bad stuff is that it appears to be pitting US weapons vs. US weapons.

saw the dvcam footage of this around E3, but it's really nice full rez with the great sound.

i promise you, like MoH, the rich ricochets and bullet hits, add a nice urgent realism factor. good addition for the long hual.

The Heat Ripples are most probably not fake.
Indeed this is totally and really easy possible. Doom3 has them too, and its only just a bit of Shader programming.
Knowing Refractor3 is actually extensivley using Shaderlanguage this might very well be real heat ripples introduced in the game.

Are we still talking about BF2 or Mrs. 420?

I hope you're right Spy98. Though it just doesn't seem like something that would end up happening in my opinion. The Refractor engine has a distinctive look (I remember thinking BF1942 looked like crap when the demo came out) and it isn't very good with special effects. Take the artillery explosions for example, where as it would be volumetric (or easily could be) in something like the Unreal engine in Refractor it's just an animation. I will say that the Refractor engine is real nice with shiny textures. It's average with player models though. I just don't the Rrefractor as a "tech" engine.

We'll see, we'll see. No need to disect everything now because we'll just find out when it comes out.

Nice find DJ!

This is looking pretty good. I really like the dust on the ground whenever the M1 fired a shot. THe map oddly reminded me of Iwo Jima. The buildings are sort of done in the same style as BF42. I just think its funny that they talk about all this detail, when most the things they point out are in FH

I hate to say it, but it looks a lot like Desert Combat with just a couple of bells and whistles thrown in.
