Default BF 2 system requirements speculations

I know it might seem a bit early, but what system requirements do you think BF 2 will have ?

I´d guess:

Absolute minimum (as it sais on package):
-P4/Athlon with 1.8 Ghz/1800+
-512 DDR RAM
-Geforce 3 64 MB

practical minimum:
-2.0 Ghz CPU/Athlon 2000+
-768 DDR RAM
-DX 9.0 card with 128 MB

recommended:
-2.4 Ghz CPU/Athlon 2500+
-1024 DDR RAM
-DX 9.0 card with 128 MB

Beware this is speculation based on what I´ve seen and my personal experiance. Just curious to hear what you guys think will be required to play BF2 decently...

min spec will be higer, a gf3 is required for 'nam.

the minimum i wouldwant to run bf2 on would be a 2.5ghz, 9800p, 512mb ram.

youll be alot better of with 1gb of ram me thinks.

Minimum is a bit high. Remember, BF2 is going to have that feature that shrinks the map for less players. Think about the specs for Far Cry and Doom 3. Thats why I would imagine minimum on the box would be:

1.2ghz CPU
256mb DDR ram
geforce 3 still sounds right.

One of my friends just bought a geforce 3 just to play BFV... Not the smartest choice considering he paid $90 or so for it..... But thinking of him as the average person looking at the minimum specs, I think DICE is going to have to consider these sorts of people.

All your other specs seem abotu right dick!

Sorry, but theres absolutly no way melee, that that system would run BF2 ! Those are just about the same as BFV minimum requirements (except for the CPU).

I'd say it all depends on how consequent they optimize and develop the display & sound engine of the game.
If they are consequently using shaders I'd go as far as saying that the minimum will be a Geforce4 in order to play. That also means that CPU will be reduced a lot. 1.2 GHz might be thought a little too less. But its not going to raise beyond the 1.8GHz mark.
Also the more they optimize the Sound engine the more it will make the game run faster. Seeing as how seemingly "little" effort went into the BF Sound engine, and thus its lag-problems on initial release, I can only hope they'll do it right this time.

Then again - I could be totally wrong. In this case - wait for a .0 release of the game. hehe.

FarCry has 1ghz as the minimum, think about how huge that is!

The thing is, theres such a wide base DICE has to appeal to. How many people looking forward to BF2 have less than stellar computers? DICE really doesnt have a choice to make it 1.8ghz minimum. We'll see when it comes out. I mean the minimum for BF42 runs it like shit, same with BFV. Im not saying it wil run well, but (eventually) it will boot up and load.

This is just want I think by what I have seen.

melee is right, mimimum just means what it takes to turn on the game, my old system i had onboard graphics and sound crap, 600mhz processor, 386mb ram and it wouldnt turn on because of my graphics, so i go out buy a radeon 7000 64mb and the game turned on and on low settings it was sort of playable on servers with little ammounts of people

so i would say minimum settings for bf2 (this is turn tur the game on) 1.2 ghz, 386 mb ram, for graphics, geforce 3 64mb, just to turn the game on, it will probably run like shit, but and this is a but, on servers with say 8 people and you have settings on uber low crap, the levels are smaller, less vehicles it might just be playable, and i dont think the levels would take too long to load

never the less, im glad i have my amd 3200+, nvidia fx 5900 ultra 256mb, but i will most deffinatly be upping my 512mb pc 3200 to 1024 pc 3200

that's way too high for bf2. the graphic looks great but the spec i think should be around medium to medium high? but if the specs is too high, bet alot of people aren't going to buy it.

Looks like you guys were right after all in this (good) interview: http://www.bfcentral.se/?s=article_show&id=451%20(interview

DICE claims: "The system requirements will be equal or slightly greater than BFV."

I think NavalLord is right but the RAM is horribly wrong. BF is so RAM intensive that BF2 will certainly need more then 386mb to run.
