Read the preview...

But to awnser your question, Yes and No !

The BF 2 engine has been built from scrap, thus beeing a completely new engine. Yet its still called Refractor 3 and undouptedly still contains some basic elements of the older Refractor engines.
In the preview its even compared with the Source (HL 2) and Doom 3 engine so I think we have reason to look forward to BF 2...

Im in for some destrucable objects. Its just silly when my tank gets stopped by a small wodden fence or tree.
If every building is destrucable, it would be unfair to infantry because there would be no hide out after a while map played.
So maybe bunkers should respawn like vehicles do.

its worse when your tank gets stuck on a small rock and u just go around in circles...if the engine is even close to HL2 this game should rock

-Battlefield 2 will support over 100 players in some of the largest online battles on the PC.

-Each map in Battlefield 2 adjusts in scale to support the number of players in the world, providing the ideal vehicle-to-player ratio and an optimized game play experience. So, you can still have tight 16-player games with the option of growing it to 100-players

-Additionally, Battlefield 2 showcases an all-new game engine and physics system to bring the modern battlefield to life like never before.

-The new material penetration feature measures weapons’ ability to fire through barriers based on their composition and players will need to know the difference between concealment and cover in order to survive.

-Battlefield 2 features immense, richly detailed, destructible environments, from city streets to remote forests.

-Enhanced team play features allow players to enter the action on the front lines as part of a formal squad, or work behind the scenes in Commander Mode to direct the strategic assaults of their teammates.

Where did you get that from ?

Based on what I have read, they have only announced the penetration system, but not anything such as destructable terrain...

Look at the last page of the first link you posted above.

I guess we can expect a lot of things to change from now till a release sometime in 05'.

Now thats actually a pretty cool feature. It also makes me presume, BF2 wont have parachutes for normal Soldiers...

well what ever its still a great feature and i hope bf2 has it because i think they learnt with bfv, you can take a chopper park it high in the sky over an enemy base and the troops will rain down like little snow flakes with guns

By the looks of it, it could be in DC .8. Just use ladder physics on the rope and change the climbing animation. I mean, thats not even BFV graphics....

the first is 100% DC, just look at the anti tank guy on the rope, he has the SMAW rockets on his back exactly the same as in DC, its DC.

Yeah well it sounds reasonable that they were testing some of the BF2 features in DC. The Blackhawk, little bird, player models, buildings, and skyboxes are all DC. It actually makes me want to go play. Dont think I've played dc in almost 2 weeks...
