Default New Battlefield 1942 Expansion Pack Coming

"The latest New Zealand release schedule from Electronic Arts lists a new expansion pack for Battlefield 1942 due for release this September. The title of the pack is Battlefield 1942: Secret Weapons. Other than the name and that it will have an R.R.P of $49.95."

Man, that's a lot of money for an expansion pack. Unless it has tons of WORKING stuff, I won't get it.

No further details are provided other than a listed $49.95 MSRP (presumably in N.Z. currency, which would be about $28.00 in the U.S.).
Better?

Thats sorta annoying I think. They release more info on another exp paxk and still no map editor. Seems really fast the way they are getting both the packs and news out, almost like they are just grabbing for cash. Looks like I'm out another 20-30$

Well they realise that if they do release stuff and make it easier to code for BF, there's going to be alot more free content availible and less people will be interested in buying expansions. I don't have RtR, and don't plan on supporting EA's moneygrab. We all know there's a precedent for EA on lots of expansions, so don't support them. Look at all the mods either out, or coming soon, support these people and maybe if say DC reaches critical mass, EA will give them the SDK to get more people to buy BF and we'll have another HL. Might be a longshot, but better than paying 30 bucks every couple months for a couple maps and vehicules.

I wont really mind if there's only 6 maps again, I just hope it will have better maps and more balanced vehicles and weapons than RTR.

I sounds like to me they are taking a theme from RTCW. Secret Weapons? Hmmmmmmmm.

Sounds like to me the SDK is gonna be out way before that expansion pack will be. LOtsa folk really dont care for mods - unless they are drop dead simple to install and run they wont use em. I'll gladly pay for another exp pack to extend the game, and if Dice/EA is smart they will release the SDK soon. BF 1942 as the next half life - sounds good to me!

( as long as all the counterstrike cheating stays out of it )

EA probably don't want 1942 to be the next half-life. That cuts sales of expansion packs and sequels and also means you have to continue patching and supporting the game for years after it's stopped making you money.

EA just aren't that sort of company, they like money. Lots of money.

The problem with exp. packs and online games is that you can´t really go without them. While everybody else is playing the new stuff you are left with the old crappy stuff noone wants to play anymore. It´s like trying to continue playing with 1.2 while (nearly) everyone else plays 1.31.

Did anyone notice in the picture that the medic was trying to revive a fallen soldier like in ,was it MOHAA. That would be cool coming back without waiting to spawn, of course you will have to have a medic near by, but I always liked that about MOHAA.
