I discovered this game at a local gaming store, and I was instantly hooked. They had it running on an Athlon xp 2000/9700pro system so needlest to say it looked great! I knew that my system was not going to perform anything like that so I downloaded the demo to see how it would run on my system. I was able to play fairly smoothly at 1024x768x32 on a 32 player server. That was good enough for me, so I went out and bought the game.
Well, here I am scratching my head wondering why so many maps are almost unplayable. I havent played all maps, but the ones I have played are often slide shows. Apparently Wake Island is one of the least demanding maps! I am currently running at 800x600x16 with everything on low except view distance, and maps like Stalingrad still drag the framerates way down. I am planning a major system upgrade in a couple of months, but until then I would really like to play this game with reasonable framerates. Even a bit of eye-candy would be nice, but I won't hold my breath for that! I'll settle for smooth gameplay. Here is my system: Asus cusl2-c celeron 1ghz Radeon 64DDR VIVO 512mb ram SB Audigy WD800JB HD Windows XP Pro Cable connection Obviously my system is right in the "recommended" range according to Electronic Arts, and it is certainly well above minimum requirements! What can I do to improve performance? Are there any good tweaking guides out there? My system in general is fairly "tweaked"...or at least I thought it was! Also, is there any way to show FPS and benchmark this game? Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

I have a 1.4 amd @ 1.74, GF4 4400, 512 of ram and was noticing a lot of slowdowns. Biggest problem was the issue that still remains with BF1942 and SB Live cards. You need to tone down the sound details a lot IE. No hardware accelerator, 22hz or less, 32 or less channels, or else it gets stuttery a lot. Also go into Start Menu in Windows, go to Run, then type in dxdiag.exe, then go to sound tab, and disable sound acceleration. Fixed EVERYTHING. I can play at great FPS now on large servers....just wish they would patch this.
Even tho you have an Audigy, you might wanna try this. |
