I'd say Gunslinger's Acoustic Heat mod is tops right now, http://www.bf1942files.com/file.info?ID=9307, it's mostly based off the Medal of Honor series, and it gets some great sounds from Spearhead that I haven't heard anywhere else. It's only cons are the fact that author used a Sten sound for the Thompson for some reason, the heavy machineguns weren't changed, and it's a fairly large download compared to other soundmods. But it does a much better job with explosions and bullet-whistles, and incoming flak sounds sooo much cooler when you're a pilot now.
