Hey the only real purpose of that turret is when your flying at high altitudes wich b-17s do they are to shoot down enemy planes trying to come in low an undetected and shoot you down. Alot of people though onthe game dont fly that high! lol. I wish more people would>

it would be cool if the belly gunner could drop additional bombs with the pilot instead of have guns

I personally think dice has takento much realism out of the game alreay! that would really be weird! Its weird enough with Americans and Russians running around with British weapons!

Whenever I'm in the belly bubble I strafe enemy positions, just fill the air with lead - got quite a few hits too.

I gotta say I've done that a few times and I can't hit jack. I hit a few planes maybe once, but the pilot never holds a corse, so my view is getting all skewed the hell out of place. Plus the lag. Hell any moving vehicle with a "turret" is relatively useless. Machinegun on top of tank = ok. If the tank is moving, however, and the driver is moving his viewpoint around, there's no telling where in the hell you're going to be pointing next. You can't hit anything like that. Same with the tailgunner on the Alch. The POV is too limited, and the pilot will obviously fly erratically and crazily to avoid enemy fire, and the tailgunner fires uselessly into the air, unable to hit the enemy plane.

My advice to EA is some sort of fix to make these positions useful. Perhaps making movement of the tank machinegun seperate from that of the tank's cannon. Some sort of stabilization is in order. I don't want to say an auto-aiming system...

Got a point there. I tend to hit targets during bombing runs, otherwise I just enjoy the scenery in the belly bubble.

I think there should be the addition of a bombardier position. Face it, the turret positions are basically places to carry troops who then jump out. So, why not add a bombardier position so that bombs can be dropped more accurately and actually help the battle down below.

That may sound good in practice, but there is a drawback: say that you find the B-17, but there is no one around to take the bombardier position. Of course, you could wait, but there is always a danger of the base getting overrun while you sit there, losing ur team the b-17 and u. If you do take off, the plane is pretty much useless until you can find someone to "scoop", and novice pilots or ppl who dont get the picture of wahts happenin can always screw that stunt up. U can just never be sure who will be around.

I think if the belly gunner has a trained eye, he can tell the pilot when to drop. Also, as the game progresses, there will probably those who show a bit more skill at piloting/bombing with the B-17 and so you'll round out to have a full crew of pilot + 2 gunners.

On another note, I have hit quite a few moving jeeps enough to cause them damage.

Pilot has to get used to dropping bombs while juding placement by looking at the map.

What do you do when machingun fire sprays all around you? You run for cover ofcourse!
That is what good the belly gun does. Spray enemy infantry, dont worry about hiting them, they will notice the machinegun fire anyway and run for cover. By making them hide, you have temporarily immmobilized them.
