The only thing that really bothers me out of this whole mess with so many bugs is that EA/Dice are not being very open about known issues besides the crap they posted in the README file. They aren't telling people that they are working on a new patch, they aren't telling anyone what issues they are trying to resolve. They won't admit to other issues that are plain obvious now. The game has so many awesome features and such a great engine it just needs some tweaking. Let the community help make the game grow instead of just hiding in your corner and not getting involved with the very people you expect to support your game.
It seems fairly obvious someone at EA pushed or put a ridiculous deadline on a product which was not tested nor finished completely. Give Dice a chance to fix some of the bugs and talk with the community who has now had to be the test dummies. The first month is going to be a marketing success or failure as to how people feel about the game. The only news I've read from EA regarding the game since the 1.1 update is the fact they are going after cheaters. Ya thats great and all but why don't you concentrate on fixing the problems that prevent people from playing the game period. The more quiet EA is about the problems and the future resolving of these problems, the more the community thinks that EA doesn't give a crap about the future of the game and how it impacts the online gaming community tomorrow. Maybe EA just wants to pitch out a game that makes a few bucks then move on to some other title. Thats not how quake made its millions. ID software was constantly fixing things, talking to the community about how it planned on fixing a problem and generally was involved in the community. Can someone from EA in design or preferably DICE come in here and let us know what the plan is for the game as far as the future is concerned. We don't want to hear from some 9.95/hour beta testing geek and what he sees as the future as they don't know squat. Tomorrow they are testing the next EA game to be released so I don't see the relevance of their input. Does anyone else feel this way? Ever since I heard about this game I got really excited and even once I started up the game I loved it. Unfortunately it only plays for 5 minutes before it craps out. I would be more in tune to be patient if I knew fixes were on the horizon and that EA/Dice hasn't left everyone out to dry if we don't have the same specs the game was tested on. This is regarding the Demo only, the only way I'm going to march down to the store is if I know that EA/Dice are committed to future development and fixes of the game. This game has so much potential, but it seems all of the sites dedicated to the game have no info or feedback from EA/Dice. It just doesn't seem like what it should be for a game that has been waited upon worldwide. Any response EA/Dice?

I have seen on other forums that they are working on another patch but right now all I can say that it is heresay.

Ya I've seen their official site. Its just ridden with whiners who are doing nothing productive except badmouth EA. There is some validity to some of the complaining but mostly nonproductive ranting. Atleast on this forum people are somewhat civil and trying to productively help each other out with the bugs. I just get tired of drudging through the same topics.

I bailed on the EA Forum awhile ago and found a home here. I will say that the final version runs well for me. I have a middle of the road system but if I upgrade my vid card a step I could do a bit better. My only issue with the Demo was figuring out how to get it running with my copy of Zone Alarm. Other than that there is just lag on some servers. I have played some big games, 50+ people. Lag but it didn't start until the numbers got over 40.
Would be nice to get an official word now and then. Stop by the BFCPT server tonight. A few should be around to play. *EDIT* Sorry, it a full version server.

I'd love to but the time I'm able to play before it craps out to the desktop is varying. Sometimes 5 minutes, sometimes 20. Sometimes it goes back to desktop, sometimes it reboots itself with blue screens. Sometimes it crashes and takes 10 minutes to debug itself and spit out an error that just sais it crashed. I've spent 3 days total in hours trying combinations of 2 different sound cards, 2 different video cards, and 3 sets of video drivers not including the video tweaking and dx tweaking. I'm inclined to believe its an issue with either the processor or something else. I'm just not very motivated to reinstall win2k again and spend hours running all the updates for win2k. If I can get Warcraft 1.0 to work I'm sure Dice can get the bugs worked out, its just time. It seems like a mute point to go purchase anymore hardware when people with even better components than I are dealing with the same problems. So its a toss up as to how lucky I'll get, no gaurantee. I'm glad others can get it to work so that the game isn't going to become a flop due to hardware configurations. Its just unfortunate that the people that make the most noise including myself are the ones who aren't so lucky. Its so utterly frustrating seeing everything that the game has to offer but for a limited amount of time before I get kicked out of the game. It just makes it that much worse knowing the game is great but you can't play it. The pathetic part is I can get the game to work on my 450mhz intel with a geforce2 with win98. Its not blinding fast but it is definitely playable and somewhat enjoyable.
I've been playing computer games since Commander Keen and Wolfenstein 3d and see how much this game revolutionizes the involvement in 1st person online gaming. This game is what people have been waiting yeeeeeeeeeeears for. They just never had the engine nor the developers who had the balls nor the interest in doing so. It got old killing Aliens. Gameplay revolutionizes games nowadays, thats why quake had such a large impact, it was the first huge online game because of how much you can get involved in the game. Eyecandy doesn't hold a stick to gameplay. Gameplay is what keeps people playing games for years. That and development. Look how long quake2 lasted. It was dead after what a year? It was just eyecandy, no more enhancements. Half-life which was based off the quake1 engine is still kicking away with counter-strike and team fortress classic. Unbelievable! But they added voice enhancement to the game not too long ago? Hows that for development? Hopefully EA wakes up to his chance and doesn't just reap a quick buck off consumers. It would be a shame to see such a great game like BF1942 tragically become what quake2 is now. Basically a passed up never was game.
