reinstalling problem

two of my friends have uninstalled there bf1942 games and now want to reinstall them and are having trouble. they're getting messages about some media not being there... any suggestions?

What Media, is it a .dll file? I had a 'Nam problem with that stuff. u just have to copy and paste the .dll file into the directory....

actually i found the answer from a post a post along time ago to a similar probelm where the solution was to clean the disk, well my friend wasn't so fortunate he has a scratch on his disk 1 so w/ my disk 1 and his disk 2 and his code he was able to reinstall the game. and he's using his disk 2 to play the game.
