Default [b]MEDALS MEDALS MEDALS ???[/b]

Aaahh Yes, Team work is definitely the aim of this game ....and isnt it great!
Obviously the aim is that no one weapon can dominate!

So is it true that the little dorky medals awarded after a round are based on Frag count predominantly, because they seem to be encouraging frantic kill-aholics that have total disregard for the Team Play and actualy consider their own side to be something to compete with!?

If so i would love to see it based more on completing mission critical tasks and outstanding levels of skill ... ie. shot accuracy, making a certain amount of Frags without dying ...etc

These Medals could then contribute to your online rank which could be stored on an EA server (but of course EA would have to give as much of a damn as Blizzard to do that)....

Then theyre actualy something worth earning and are more of a reference to someone's skill than the ranks awarded on this Forum .....just being honest .... i mean anyone can post messages....

Eager to hear your comments people......

I second the comments!

Team play is what it's all aobut! Any idiot can run around shooting people but as soon as you have to work with someone, your true skills begin to show!

So i say bring on the challenges, i want to see tanks being suported by Aircraft, Men being supported by aircraft, i want to see it it all!!

And i think the medals should be calculated on skill and endurance n how u play rather than simple kills to death ratio.

And as far as EA caring for 1942 as much as Blizzard cares about it's babies.........WE SHOULD BLOODY WELL HOPE SO!

well I'll agree with the first part of your essay. Although teamwork is increasingly becoming apparent, there are those that still run around trying to amass enough points to get that "Iron Cross" or "Silver Star" decoration. I personally don't give a hoot if I finish at 0 (zero) points, as long as I help out my team to win the round/game. (that happens often enough when I'm the engineer fixin broken tanks and kubelwagons).

Second part - getting EA involved... I'll pass. There are more unofficial means of showing good gameplay and be rewarded for it. Join a clan.

You are quite right! ...at the end of the day i dont really care who has what, thinks what, or is in what clan .... as long as we are having fun!

But it would have been nice to encourage good Team Play by having a universal recognition system to motivate people..

But in your case i can see you have a taste for the sheer satisfaction of contributing whatever you want ... even if you score is a big fat 0....

So Bravo!
....and ill see ya out there healing yo ass while you repair that Tank!

(Hopefully there will be plenty of other complete strangers by our side unified by the common cause )

Well they awarded medals to people who were heroic in the real war, so why not people who were major contributers to the battle on here?

If somone killed 50 germans by himself in ww2, im reasonable confident theyd get a medal. I cant think of a game were teamplay was more aparent than the second world war, and they had medals. I doubt people strive for them as much in this game as others.

Yes i agree with all of you, n hope to play with all of you!

I too play for fun not score!

I like to be the OIL in the battle that helps ppl get flags etc
Even if i turn the flag Grey and get killed while my team mates rush to secure it..I DID MY PART!

I think it would be great if you could get different kinds of medals in this game. Not just gold, silver or bronze. Medals like The distinguished service cross for bravery or the purple heart if you never get killed, only wounded. Of course you would get the appropriate medal for the country you are fighting for.

I agree DAMN IT! :/

If u r japanese u should get the Jap medals, not the Iron Cross etc!

But hey after all the game is about team work i believe. U should also et medals if uu r the Medic for the amount of ppl u heal, mechanics for how many vehicles u "Save" etc etc

But overall i just want the guy next to me be trust worthy, someone i can fight with who won't bail outta the plane or tank b saying.."Bail out" and with preferably enough time for me to register it b4 th eplane blows up :P

Um medals are awared for being the top 3 "scorers" in a game. Score includes Objective Points (capping flags) and Kills. Deaths has nothing to do with it.

Winning medals usually means your killing AND tackling objectives.

Scoreboard:

The little throphy is a combination Objective Points / Kills
The little stick man is Kills
The scull is deaths

Medals are awarded on the first.....

Yup. There are many times when I finish first and it was by NO means carried there by my kills. I am very objective oriented in Conquest games and I often take the top spot based both on taking out the enemy efficiently, and striving and succeeding in achieving the goals. You can be the top killer, but you won't necessarily win if you're not aiming for the goals of the conquest.

yes, we know there is a better way of getting medals rather than kills etc.

We r talking about how it's better to play for fun rather than trying to get lame medals. About being that Mechanic or th Medic that actualy makes a difference to the tem etc.

I am one such person...well I like to think so anyway....
