Default Soyuz vs. the machine

I had a crazy weekend with my computer.
It started with me wanting to make the "hat switch" thing on my joystick to make it so i can look around (Shift+mouse).

So I went and found instruction on the forum and I followed the instruction but instead of programing the joy stick buttons to key board keys I tried to make it work other wize (fooling around with the air.con file). That didn't work so I tried the way it was said on a thread. To do that I needed to download new drivers for my joystick and then download some program that lets me bind button. This made the joystick not work at all in game. So then I went and tried to do System Restore and stupid XP didn't restore anything (for no apparent reason) So then I went and deleted all the possible driver for my joystick so that I could bring it back to normal/as before, but it didn't. Then my dad tried to fix it and downloaded drivers for my motherboard which I knew would screw thing up even more. Now I don't know how to get rid of them because when I unistall them they resore themsleves after a reboot. But if I don't delete them then my game freezes after like 20 mins.

So now I have a BF42 that works half the time and freezes, driver that I have to delete each time I reboot, and a joystick that doesn't work. And it all because I wanted the hatswitch to let me look around

I hate computers... but I love BF42....

PS I'll probably reformat but I need an external HD to save all the Ggigs of mods I have... Exiting!

I love PC and i love BF42, lucky me.

On a serious note reformatting is the best way, it solves everything. As for backing up consider a DVD burner and some DVDRW's. Works out alot cheaper than a decent sized Hard drive.

You can get a really cool 80Gb external HDD for about £60 from e-buyer

http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=62839

or pay a few pouinds more and get a 250Gb, much faster than DVD burning, and its plug and play, plus is looks cool, I have two of the 250Gb ones never had a problem and only cost £96.

In the US you must be able to get the same HDD or simlar for like $60.

But if you read what soyuz said he stated he mearly wanted to hace a place to put all his mods while he reformatted, then to tranfer them back, An external HD seems like a waste of money for that.

He could all ways buy a internal hard drive, alot cheaper than external ones. And they are amasingly simple to install.

Ya I'll use an internal one probably.
+ I only need to use it for 1 day so I'll probably just borrow one. (I'm cheap :P )

Do you have more stuff than will fit on a DVD-RW?

But then I need to find a DvD Burner and blank DvD. seems a little to hard.
An internal HD is easier

Just burn them mods onto a bunch of cd's. How many do you ever play?

Don't give Soyuz a flat tire each time, it just seems stupid/unecessary. Didn't VA talk about attacks recently?

I could have posted Soyuz's post and got decent advice.

Either spend your money on another hard drive which you will later fill up with goodness, or spend it on a DVD burner which you will later use to burn goodness.

In the future if you have tech problems/questions, use the forum for that listed further down the page.

Nothing more to see here, move along move along.
