Default Competitive BF1942 quality play is slowly going bye bye

Mostly now it's getting one sided map play.

Why? On the popular servers....it's due to talent on one side.
Sometimes it's plane aces that totally domintate gameplay.

Also, Newbs...goofing around.
Tank ppl afraid to lose their tanky wanky.

There are some good matches to be fought on major servers still.

There is also an increasing number of newbs joining maps play lately.

Don't tell me about your occasional mod play reason for being here.

I played on Sunday and there was a few competitive rounds. But what I noticed is that anyone worth anything did run for a vehicle. I don't think it is the air that is that great...it's a lack of grunts running around from base to base. I was flying and was doing damage from the sky but it didn't matter when the groud people made no moves. I bailed and on foot on gazala managed to cap 3 bases

I really miss 2 years ago when servers were packed and people were competitive even in pub games. BF42 is the best game IMO but only when playing with a large number of people. BFV was a big dissappointment and I fell because the maps really took vehicles out of the mix. I understand that it is probably more reflective of reality in regards to the Vietnam conflicts but the multidimensional play of 42 was so much better. To this day EOD > BFV...I mean really where is the skill/fun in not seeing a guy until you are on top of him in the jungle? You could actually run around and cap bases for the entire round without getting killed or shooting someone. Sometimes reality is not all it's cracked up to be.

I've been playing a lot lately cause my brother in another state finally got a computer worth using and I got him the game for xmas. Been having a lot of fun but is exactly as you say. My main objective is to cap bases and when I go for a base and get no help despite my radio chatter for support, it is just worthless. Worse thing is when you see 3 guys in planes and you call for air support to clear a tank that is trying to take your base and all they continue to do is to base rape the enemy.... total asstards...

Wut night/time(eastern) do you fellas play? We should all get on once in awhile and balance out some servers for fun. I know Caslon is a good player and I have a bunch of competitive background. Even if we only muster up 6 guys it could make it pretty fun.

I have to agree, one side typically dominates the other. And not getting any help is a mahor PITA. Although sometimes you'll get two good teams together, and if you can for help a pilot will swing by and blow up the tank that's giving you a hard time. And when you yell medic you actually have a medic show up to heal you. Granted it happens 1 in a 100,000 games.

I dunno... I've had some really good games of late, almost entirely on EA servers. SOME rounds definetely turn out like Caslon says, with either a couple good pilots dominating everything or people just being total asshats. Market Garden and Battle of Britian really stand out there. but lately on EA 52 (or 152?)- Bocage, Bulge, and to a lesser extent Caen have provided some really strong games. Even seen some pretty decent teamwork here and there. That server seems to have gotten a decent size group of "regulars", which helps with the good gameplay. Asshats definetely show up, but they either A. get kicked pretty quick, or B. get bored when no one pays attention to them.

I dunno... I don't take it seriously anymore, so I usually wind up having a fun time.

But that's one of the reasons I picked up UT- have another option in a shooter game.

Until BF2, anyway!

There are some really solid competitive servers still I think Caslon plays in. Like 6thad has a really good one that is always populated with skilled guys. Test Tre (or something like that) is another pretty good server. I have a few more bookmarked I will post them later. I can't remember what map it was this weekend but the match came down to 15 tickets. And if there are people like me on it I will gladly jump on a team that is getting spanked to try and balance the round. I personally look for tags of clans I know that are the top notch people. I like good competition and those some of those guys make me want to cry "haxors" on occasion lol.

Play forgotten hope for gods sake. All the decent players have moved on and we wont step backwards from perfection.

Stop living in the past and join us. The reason your having shitty gameplay is because the only people who play classic anymore are punks who just got the game from their auntey, and guys who are fuckwits and only play to be fuckwits.

The gig and a half download of forgotten hope filters out the casual rabble players and leaves the dedicated people who want to get a good teamwork filled game on.

Hmm... well, if I had any interest at all in FH, yeah, maybe. but having tried it a couple times... If I had the choice of sticking my hand in a blender and playing FH, the blender would win.

:P

A pity that Battlegroup42 never really caught on, being a tank buff and whatnot.

Oh well, vanilla still is teh fun. Passes the time till BF2.

You have got to be seriously the only person to ever play FH and not think its the bees knees.

People pay it out, untill they actually play the game, then they cant stop.

Lol, sorry, Urseus, was probably a unduly-harsh review- was a wee tad bit on the tipsy side last night (Dogfish Head 90 minute Imperial IPA last night... not sure wtf an "imperial" IPA is, but it sure whooped my ass rather quick!)

Guess i should give it a try again- last time I played FH was *at least* a year ago, if not longer, so it's probably had a few new versions since.

I'll give it a download as long as I can find a non-subscription-requiring site to DL it from (got any?), and give it a shot within the next few days.

It does have King Tigers, right?

Have they fixed the incredibly annoying kick problems with FH yet? Played .65 but I couldn't load any servers because I would constantly get kicked.

Either way, 6th AD is a good server as is MA sometimes. As with most online games these days, noobs are prevalent (had a guy ask how to open the lcvp today...). Some other vanilla servers I found to be decent were EA African Campaign, ihug, PAGN.net, and clan Reverance. Reverance is usually the best.

Tuco, EA 152 and 52 are Western Front Servers, 152 usually has the better players.

I have not played BF1942 seriosuly for about a year and back then most servers had competive hard fought games on them. It was great.

I then moved to Call of Duty and loved it. But since coming back into the fold so to speak I have noticed that many servers seems to be have many fools playing on them, (i do suck by the way) the games become a pain in the but.

however downloaded FH again the new version and the games are much better more seriosu players/players that are playing to win or at least to do as best they can (thats me). FH is a great mode.
