Hello there. I had recently bought the 'Battlefield 1942 War Chest' which had came with Battlefield 1942 and it's expansions. My computers specifications are:
ATi Radeon 9600 SE w/ Latest Radeon Omega Drivers (Runs Worse on latest 'Catalyst' drivers.) 768 MB PC2700 DDRAM 120 GB 7200 RPM HDD / 8% Used up. Pentium 4 2.4 GHz Processor I play the game on: Resolution: 1024x768x32@70 Graphics Quality: Medium Effects Quality: Medium Environment Mapping: No Lightmaps: No Shadows: No Texture Quality: %60 View Distance: %60 Alternative Spawn Interface: No Sound Settings: Default I am a computer security enthusiast and don't believe that viruses or spyware is the problem. I keep my computer rather clean and rid of junk. But while playing I get a rather low frame rate. What could be this reason? Thank-you. |

try bumping it down to 1024x768 @ 60, it may help.
Btw Radeon 9600 SE aren't known for their reliability and performance, so that may be it.

Concidering he's said:
"ATi Radeon 9600 SE w/ Latest Radeon Omega Drivers (Runs Worse on latest 'Catalyst' drivers.) " I'd imagine he tried the latest cats ![]() I have sort of the same setup, P4 2.4 GHz, 1 GB PC3200 RAM, Radeon 9800 and it runs fairly good on my computer, even on maxed settings. Theres a few problems with the sound engine, try disabling hardware acceleration in the sound dialog, or reducing the quality there. |

The the 9600se and the x600 both suck. The x600 is essentialy the PCI-E version of the 9600pro. THe 9600SE has more in common with the 9200 than a 9600, look at the specs. Quote:

Like Rexxie, I'm thinking sound issues too. Hardware should ease up some strain on your computer but software might run smoother.
EAX sucks too. Not sure why, as it's supposed to be good. Sounds like crap to me in every game that uses it.

But its sooo true dan, The 6600gt rocks so much in the budget graphics card department. The 9800pro is good, no doubt about that, I used to have one, I was lucky as i got a r360 core, Managed to clock it way past Xt speeds with a Rev 1 vga silencer on it.
EAX dosnt suck, its just it not realy implemented well in many games, The sound in BF has allways been sucky, From the sound clips to the way it implemented. From the BF2 vids though it loooks to have improved. Cod however has ace implemnetation of EAX and good sounds. Oh and creatives drivers suck realy realy badly, they are DIRE. |
