Default D-Day 2004

I managed to make it over to the Normandy Beaches for the 60th Anniversary of D-Day celebrations this year. I also went to Dieppe, Bastogne and St. Vith Belgium(Battle of the Buldge map), Luxembourg as well as going to Poland to see Auschwitz/Birkenau. I have developed a small website share some of the pictures that I took in the first couple of weeks while I was traveling in a rented VW camper van. I ran out of web space so I haven't posted any of the pictures of Auschwitz (maybe later). So if you're interested in taking a look at a selection of pictures from the over 500 that I took while in Europe, check out my site at:

Ya, I had gone in 2000 (56th anniversary). I had to go again with this being the last big celebration. There were approximately 400 to 500 vets at Juno Beach ceremonies. That was the best part for me, talking with the vets, all bonified heros in my books.

Like the pics, I think my grandpa (a war vet) and me are going next year. He goes to the Netherland area every year because he helped liberate it during WW2, and they hold a big ceremony. If I go he's gonna take me to alot of cool battle locations, such as Normandy and Dieppe.

Awesome pics! I can't believe it, my parents won't let me go cause it is to expensive. That is like the number one place I wanna go. Still I really wanna go, what a bummer. Huh.

Thanks for sharing. Awesome trip.
I'm planning on visiting Normandy too, sometime this summer.

Dude, that's cool. The only actual WWII trip i've ever taken was to the SS New Jersey, a Battleship. Just awsome. They must have had atleast 2000 AA guns on the thing.

Hmmm, you must not be legal age or your asking for their money.

Save up your nickels and dimes before you know it you will be able to go. The most expensive thing is the getting there but there are deals on flights if you look hard.

Actually thanks for bringing this post back. I was thinking that I might take it off and put something else up but I will wait a bit yet. I still have the pictures from Auschwitz that I was going to post with the others but ran out of space on the web page. I guess I should have changed it for Jan 27 to recognize the liberation by the Soviets in 1945.
