Do you see more games with ASE?
Because for now I'm using the built in thing and the only problem with it is I see only aout 2,500 games. + i can't filter only DC or only FH which is a bummer. Also it's kinda anoying when I UBER slow computer is changing from DC to FH and then to Vanilla and then back to FH (when I play a new game that is). The time it takes to load make me usually lose the last spot on a server or something like that. |

I think if anything you see *fewer* games in ASE. ASE needs a port other than the default game port open to show up, so only servers with that port open can be seen in ASE. However, that should be every public server anyway.
ASE is great for filtering mods. There's a free version, so you should give it a try. I installed it and haven't used the in-game browser since. |

If you have the mod installed (or the expack - Road to Rome anyone?) then it will load straight to that mod (or expack). It also starts without the movie intro stuff. Once you get the hang of it, you'll wonder how you ever lived without it. You can create your own custom filters in ways you wouldn't even have thought possible. Or you can just use the filters that come with it. You can also browse both BF and BFv (if you have both games) and decide which you want to play based on who else is playing and which servers are looking good. If you haven't used it before, just try it. |

I don't know why someone would change the port for a server and not have the ASE / GS ports open if it's a *public server*. On the other hand, there could be a few public servers out there that don't have the necessary ASE ports open simply because they don't know about ASE. So I stand by my original claim that ASE might see fewer servers than the in-game browser or GS. But even Mello surely saw that my post was urging *everyone* to get and use ASE. You will never go back. I still haven't paid for the full version, but it's worth hearing why. I don't mind nag screens. I only look for aussie servers, so I don't mind if the scanner servers are overloaded. I don't have many friends (well, not in the same time zone) so having a limited buddy list doesn't bother me. Most important though, I was all set to get registered then the Aussie dollar took a bath. If I lived in Europe or the USA I would've been a fully signed up lifetime member of ASE a long time ago. ASE rocks. There might be excuses for only having the shareware version, but there is *NO* excuse for not having at least the shareware version. Get it now if you don't have it already. |
