We are trying to let everybody know that Battlefield 1942 is not HISTORY! We want EA to try to work on a new patch where we have cool new features like:
1. BF TV: Add a feature that would make it possible to watch matches. In that way you would be able to watch clanwars in first person view, without actually being on the server. Like HLTV in the Counter-Strike community. 2. Demo recording. 3. Random Skies / Clouds (against pixel shooting tactics). 4. Fix bugs. Sign up for this petition right here: http://www.so-fragged.com/bftv/ And spread the word! ![]()

Grim,
Smartass is speaking of something like HLTV for counter-strike. Although your curt reply was funny, I just don't think 15 guys using freecam during a match would be very good for gameplay. That's why you would implement a "BFTV" server or proggie. Good idea on the random sky thing. I'll sign the petition since Yetix signed it and to simply make EA support the game longer. |

Ok, I'll explain it. The BFTV idea mainly applies towards OGL or similar matches. Here are a couple things to think about.
First, 12 on 12 match, plus 10 people that want to watch the match. With me? Ok, that's a 34 player load on the server. We can all agree that if the server is a max 34 player server, it will more than likely run better when only 24 ppl are on it than the 34. That's the first point. The second point is, spectators (free cam) will always bring suspicion of spying and relaying info via team chat. A broadcast server that is merely linked to the match server will: a) not use additional bandwidth (nominal if any) b) Will allow anyone to watch, public included. Most matches are PW'd Remember, some of these matches are big enough to some people to be broadcast on BF radio. c) Could incorporate some more advance features like HLTV such as different views, map plotting etc etc. Just food for thought man! |
