Realism is one of the most important qualities of a shooting game, especially military, in my opinion. Some games do it better than others. Obviously, COD & MOH would be the obvious contenders in this category, but there are other non-military-oriented shooters that delve more into the fantasy realm, such as Far Cry, STALKER & Painkiller, all of which must be considered when discussing the issue of visual & audio realism in today's games. Which games do you think rank highest in realism for things such as historical re-enactment, sound, weapons, environments, scenarios & situations, enemy A.I., etc.? Husseins sons were only recently killed and already Kuma war lets you play through that very mission in an actual recreation of the residential area where they were really overtaken ~ In terms of subject matter and visuals, games are getting incredibly accurate these days and I'm lovin it.

BF42 is a great game but it isn't very realistic, hence it's arcade classification. The battle names are about the most realistic thing. The maps have some similarity to what the real battlefield might have looked like but it's only a representation and not particularly accurate.
I don't know if true reality would be a lot of fun... Could you imagine paying $50.00 for a game and getting killed within the first few minutes? That would be it, seeing as you're dead. In reality, people don't respawn.

Probably one of the most realistic games youll ever play is operation flashpoint. First game ive ever played where you can run in any direction without hitting invisible walls. You can use any gun or vehical you see to help acomplish your mission. Flashpoint ruins most all other fps for you, so dont play it if you love basic boring run in a streight line moh type rubbish games.

I disagree
While OPFS is a very realistic game, it seems a bit overly realistic sometimes and it gets a bit boring at times. If you can actually learn to fly the stuff and what not, its pretty fun but its definately not pick up and play like bf... Which means no smacktards... Which means... Crap, why am I not playing that game!?!?! |

Technically, BF1942 IS the best for actual character movement. Walking..standing..crawling..even barely moving, characters show unprecedented realism.
Call of Duty soldiers run like a cross between a midget and Planet of the Apes character. |

Rogue spear was great for its time regarding realism, at least you died when you got shot in the head. It did have some weird shit such as dying if you fell down from not-so-high.
I always complained about lack of realism in BF, i dont care what dreamworld you reside in, planes cant carry 15 bombs. |

I have to agree about OFP, I played the MP demo for like 5 months till I finally decided I should get it. The only problem I would say is that there is a definate lack of servers, and if you join one, its usually quite laggy. But I have to say I LOVE the coop mode in OFP. There on hundreds, maybe thousands of custom coop maps made by random users. And by the way, the choppers in OFP are actually really easy to fly, especially if you have a joystick, not to mention its awsome mowing down an enemy incampment with dumbfire missles (FFARS I believe they are called in the game). OFP is definatly one to pick up, athough the gfx arnt exactly the best, the gameplay is just pure greatness, and has great replay value. Its so much fun going on Black Ops missions with a couple of other friends, or assaulting a town with apache helicopters, and Blackhawks for transport of infantry (btw im a great pilot), and maybe even have a few Bradly and Abrams tanks roll in as well.
I just cant emphasize it enough, OFP is a great military game, there are 3 islands, and each would probably take about on hour to walk across on foot. Hell, some people even made a Black Hawk Down mission (based on the movie) which is also great fun, though I cant say its my fav. coop mission.

Copperhead: Would you rather it carried 2 bombs? Oh, I can just myself in Battle of Britain flying a bomber and having to soar all the way across the ocean every minute to get more ammunition. Sound fun? Not really.
