BLACK SCREEN after installing v1.6 patch

When I did a clean install of BF1942, it was working fine. Then after applying the 1.6 patch, the game would go into a black screen for 30 seconds, then dump me back to desktop. Why?

Meh. Disregard that. Digital Illusions decided to be idiots and put .con files in "My Documents" folder. Can you believe that?

After deleting them, my problems went away.
