Default People damage.

Is this going to be a one shot (or two or three depending on the hit area) kill game, or is it going to be an unreal frag of doom. I should certainly hope more for the former, although something about a third of the way down the line would be cool too.

I think its more of the depending on where you hit the guy. I have seen from movies guys get hit once and die and a few where they take a hit after hit, the MG seems to take the game, the rifles dont seem do much damage.

It all depends on who you are as well. Even if all charactors carried the same weapon, not all have the same effect. The Assault kit will probably be the best at up close action and accuracy. The Medic or the Eng. wont have the same effect. I remember reading where it was said that the Eng. isn't very good at "close quarter combat" and the Medic kit isn't very good at long distance accuracy, so it wont be the same for all.

I just found out from a preview it is just 1-3 shots to kill, depending on area. (like OFP)

There's no difference is aiming per kit. The medic isn't a worse shooter then the assault soldier. The difference lies in the weapons. The Assault soldier simply has a somewhat better machinegun then the medic.

And with the assault soldier... I think you'll need 1 - 4/5 shots now...

From what i have seen i pretty much die straight away and i rarely no where im getting shot from. Yes i have an old beta so it might be a bit off but i believe it to be realistic as in war how do you know where your being shot. Also as you would expect 1 shot and ur dead from a tank but i also seemed to get sniped alot!!!

That may very well be, I don't know. In the article that I read it said that each charactor has his own strengths and weaknesses. It said for one instance the Engineer could fix tanks, set booby traps and mines, but wasn't good at close quarter combat or could shoot targets at long distance. In each of these cases, there was no mention of weapons or weapon type. Maybe by allowing only certain weapons to be available to each charactor is how the programmers work this out. It wouldn't seem right me that no matter what weopan you're carrying would be ineffective or not as good at close quarter combat. Good grief, even a stick is good at close quarter combat! so maybe it's the "damage" effect that each class can inflict rather than weapon type? I don't know.

Yes, this is how they work this out.
If you spawn as an engineer, you get a machinegun. When you spawn as assault, you get a better machinegun, but you can't fix stuff no more.
Weapons are kit-bound, and they make the difference...

you gotta be kidding! So if I'm an Engineer and the best weapon I have isn't even any good at close quarter combat, I'm in big trouble. What on earth do they give you then, a cap gun?!

the engineer has some kind of rifle...
And you're right, in close quarter battles, the engineer is in trouble.

BUT... the engineer has C4 So if you're smart, you can lead everyone into your trap

Every movie i see is 1-3 shots (more if you really suck at shooting). I think we can all bet on it.

I really hope it stays 1-3 shot kills. I don't want it to be too arcadey, for gods sake it is based on real events. It makes it less fun to have a killfest involving no real skills that separate n00bs from experts. I like OFP, too bad I don't have it...

I wont be like Quake where its all about the Frags. This is much more of a military "simulation", even though you can do some pretty heroic things, i.e. wing walking and all that other good stuff from CE
