Well, the thing that i would like to see most in any future bf series is day and night cycles. Imagine the sun slowly setting over the horizon as the battle continues well into the night. When night is at its blackest ambushes and night time suprise assaults become a real possibilty. You could have the option to have headlights on jeeps and tanks on or off too. Im not sure how this would work over the course of a game perhaps each 10 minutes in the game could represent one hour in the real world. And what about random weather effects? It could be sunny and bright for a while then the clouds turn grey and a downpour ensues. Perhaps even makiing the ground more slippery and bogging down vehicles in mud in certain areas. This would perhaps add to the x factor of military planning that ensures no plan ever goes according to plan most of the time.

It's a nice idea. Too bad it can't really happen in the game
