What could possibly be more important than a BFNation server?

Could we all donate for 1? Or maybe we could just go use an empty 1, there are plenty of them

Actually, parts of the edgenetwork runs on the comp now
So that's kind of important. I'll see about donating, maybe we can fix something up.

HomeLan used to offer servers to groups in the community. I checked and couldn't find the link anymore and I doubt that they'd let us have a 32 player Battlefield 1942 server for free. There's a big difference between a 16 player DoD server and that.

That's as long as games use the same amount to bandwith and that just ain't gonna happen. It's like saying "We have cool game engines now, let's stop making new features until the majority of the market's hardware catches up to run it as intended."

I meant we can all host BF1942

But I know what ur saying, developers always develop their games so that they get the most out of what current technology has to offer.

You know, i wish someone would say that. I wouldn't mind giving up some new features and maybe make do with average graphics if i could play a multiplayer game that was really stable, fast and lag free.
When i got my comp a year or so it was pretty much top of the line, but i am already feeling like i will have to upgrade or buy anew one if i want to play the games that are going to be released in the near future.

Well the only game that comes close to that is Half-Life because it's old and you'll still experience some lag in that occasionally.

The market today looks at whichever game has the best graphics. I don't really see why new features would hurt your system when you can just lower the quality.

Bump mapping (or whatever) shouldn't be conflicting with the stability of your game if it's off, although you sound like it is. :/
