Default Very recently...less ppl playing BF1942

Anyone noticed that since about a week ago (when college started),
there's been a dramatic drop in the number of ppl playing?

I sure have.

All at once it's like a mass exodus from online BF1942. Tons of empty servers all the time now. It's kinda scary actually, hehe.

I'm not sure if it's because of college, too many expansion paks or what.

I don't play as much these days..but I could always find crowded servers
at most any time day of night. Not anymore...where has everyone gone?

I would think people would play more during college since that's when they get fast connections. Mabye I'm wrong.

Maybe they've not gotten settled in yet or something.
There's been this really noticable decrease of online play, as of late.

Usually the weekends it picks up. For the first time this past weekend, it
didn't. And it seems to be a continuing trend. Kinda shocking and disappointing.

It's not gotten to the point of becoming alarming, just that I noticed a tangible
decline in the number ppl playing as of very recently.

Who cares! With less people that mean you have less smacktards and noobs to mess up the game. Let them go to college or play their other games! I for one won't miss them!

Same thing happens every year with every game.

It seems to drop for a couple of weeks but then really starts to pick up after everyone is settled into the drudge of school.

I haven't noticed a significant drop in players, and servers have actually increased in total.

So I'm happy.

The game is just about a year old, but with 2 expansion packs, hopefully that will keep the number of users steady / and or growing.

Interesting thought... EA originally said they would support the game online for one year. The year is just about up, I wonder if they'll keep their servers going (my guess is yes because of the recent expansion packs).

It came out yesterday most places. I picked up a copy out of curiosity. Not bad, the bad lag that was in the demo has been improved, the throwing knife and shotguns are cool, so are the maps and the large enclosed buildings on some maps. The "indoor" fighting kinda reminds me of some CS maps now and then, only cooler.

I agree. I have been spending most of my gaming time playing Star Wars Galaxies.

I got a copy of SW of WWII and couldnt find any online games to play. Or at least any with more than 5 or 6 people on a server .

I think most of us would say we've had pretty good value for money out of this game. It's inevitable that a game comes to the end of its peak popularity as people move on to other things.

Yes, it seems quieter. But I'm still surpised at the amount who still play including me.

Yep, every game goes through it's cycles. From now till the first part of next year there's going to be a bunch of great games coming out so the competition is going to be pretty strong.

But will we ever come back to Battlefield 1942 after they are released? :/

Half-Life 2 which is right around the corner, Doom III, and Soldner are all looking pretty good. Can BF keep up it's consistency of crappy support or are these new releases going to force them into giving us more then 3 free maps?

Too bad 1942 is sooooooooo much better than those other games. It will be a damn shame when no one buys or plays them.
