Here's a tough one for you gurus. Here's my delima:
When playing Battlefield 1942, we normally use either Roger Wilco or Team Speak to talk to each other while playing. Ever since I downloaded and installed the 1.45 patch, I cannot run either RW or TS while playing the game. If I shutdown RW or TS, BF 1942 plays fine. When I have either of the voice chat programs launched when I load BF1942, anytime I click on any button on the BF1942 screen, I get MULTIPLE clicks (the computer also makes a multiple "clicking" sound). If I connect to a game, when the game loads, the weapons menu screen is active (on screen) and it constantly cycles through each weapon fairly fast (still making the clicking sound) and will not let me select one. In addition, I have been using a Logitech TrackMan Marble trackball. This is what I have loaded for BF1942: Battlefield 1942 (full commercial version) Battlefield 1942 - Road to Rome (full commercial version) Battlefield 1942 patch 1.45 (full version - 107MB) Desert Combat .38 (full install) Desert Combat .39a (patch) This is what I have done to try and correct the problem: -Replaced the Logitech TrackMan Marble with a new Logitech 3 button mouse -optimized my system -defragged the hard drive (I do this constantly anyway) -I have NO viruses -Uninstalled/reinstalled Roger Wilco -Uninstalled/renstalled Team Speak -Uninstalled/reinstalled all BF1942 programs (optimizing and defragging between each) -Checked and updated the drivers on the Motherboard and Video Card -Disabled the Firewall (no luck) -Cursed a LOT (this really doesn't help, though I thought it would) My system doesn't crash, nor do I have any other problems with BF1942. Like I said, I turn off RW or TS, the game runs perfectly. I don't have connection problems. I can run RW or TS without BF1942 and both programs work perfectly. I can even run a server for both and the system works just fine without BF loaded. Here's some other pertinent information: -Windows 98/Second Edition -Direct X 8.1 -Cable Modem -AMD 1.7G w/256GB RAM -Radeon "All In Wonder" 7500DV Any and all constructive help would be surely appreciated. I'm almost at my wits end because I'm usually good at troubleshooting computer problems. But this one's got me stumped. Thanks, Buzzman ![]() |

Did you check to see if hardware acceleration was off or on in your DX Diag tools? If by some chance it is off, I'd click it on and then see if that allows you to change the option in BF as well. Mainly, I'm trying to throw out some questions and suggestions that may help you to think of something or come across something that will solve the problem because I honestly can't think of what would be going on here, other than some weird sound card issue.

I checked the DX Diag tools and the hardware acceleration was on. I toggled it off and back on, no dice.
I've found that the only way I can work around this problem is make sure there's nothing running in the task list and the hard drive is 100% defragged. I then have to load the game and get to the servers screen (Multiplay/Internet), then do an ALT TAB, launch either Team Speak or TW, then ALT TAB back to the game. This has been working as of late.... Buzzman |

I've tried using a plethora of different transmit keys. Right now I'm using F12 and I've disabled any control conflicts within the game (key duplication).
I went out and bought a new hard drive and only put Battlefield 1942 on it. Problem still exists. I'm thinking that it's a sound conflict with my on-board sound device (AC'97). I have found a work around though: 1) Load the game 2) ALT then TAB to get back to windows 3) Launch Roger Wilco or Team Speak 4) ALT then TAB to get back to the game Seems to work fine this way, but suck-didilly-ucks having to do this....
