It wont install.
I click my language, then "install", then "next" and instead of going to the "enter cd key screen" it skips it and goes to "you have entered and invalid code." It never gives me a chance to enter my cd key, it goes right to that message instead. EA tech support was nice but after 30 minutes or so he gave up and told me basically, I have to take the gAME BACK AND I CANT PLAY! Rats! Athlon AMD Xp2100+ 512 RAM Geforce 4 ti4400 128 mb Samsung cdrw-224b Win XP Pro He suggested I update my drivers for my samsung cdrw. I did that and it didnt help. We tried copying the contents of cd 1 onto a desktop file, then installing it from there. No luck with that either. We went in to the registry and got rid of some files from the demos. That still didnt help. So he basically said, yes it should work, but it doesnt, even though you have smokin system and everything is in order. So I am screwed. And I did try putting it on an old p3 600 I have. I was able to get to the enter cd key screen no problem. But I wont install it on that weak ass machine; its not on the internet and I have a great new system that runs MAdden 2003, NWN Nights, and other games no problem. Can anybody think of why it skips the "enter cd key screen" and goes right to an error without even letting me enter my cd key? EA doesnt know and doesnt care. Please help an old GI REQUESTING REINFORCEMENTS! |

Drastic measures for drastic times I reckon....
I reinstalled Windows XP and it worked!!!!! I had to do a total reinstall after a partial failed to improve my problem. There must have been some hidden files from the demo that we didnt find. I played my first map online and loved it. I was getting the schooled until I got into a tank. Then I evened up the score with Jerry. Yes it was a pain but at least now I am PLAYING AND LOVING IT. Colonel Christmas out.

God that sucks. Having to re-install Windoze XPeepee to get the game going. That's happened to me before and it's a real drag. Sometimes installing other software overwrites critical XP dll's and that will cause game and other software incompatibilities.
Damn, whatever happened to good ol' OS/2? Maybe some flavor of Linux is in order. Chef |

all right.
after selecting language and then pressing "install" and pressing the "next" button, I had an error message saying "invalid build of cd code" or something. when i pressed "ok" i had the "invalid cd key" error without giving me the chance to enter the cd key. what i did was: open cd1/eReg/Battlefield 1942_code (cd code MFC application). this will open the cd code window.enter your cd key BUT DON'T PRESS OK YET!!! then go to the installation window and press "next". and when you get the "invalid build of cd key" message. Go to the cd key screen (where you've entered your cd key) and press "ok". The installation continued normally from that point and the game runed ok!!! hope i helped you! |
