More Info on Crash to Desktop issue

Hey Folks, Well iv continued my resolve to cure the bane that is the crash to desk top issue. Iv posted a few times befor conserning this problem and many others have as well.. Iv done many many things to try and resolve the error but to no success.. Let me start by Re posting my specs.

I am running a Toshiba Satelite 1905 S303
with crystal audio sound card
Radeon Mobility Video adapter --- were the issue lies i think
2.4ghz Intell p4 proc.
512 megs of ram
intel 10/100 nic
40 gig hd
so on and such forth.. Im running with DX 8.1 tho i have tried BF with DX 9. I have installed BF patches 1.3 1.31 and 1.4 and no luck after any of the patches.
Further more my lap top came with Win XP and the game produced the same error ( game starts up fine but when you load any map it crashes to desk top producing no error.) Then i installed win 2000 pro on my machine. And i still get the same error using the windows 2k video driver.
Also i have messed with most all of the D3D settings with no luck.. changed the various in game settings with no success. Though on a tip i changed one of the .Con file settings to allow the game to play in a window.. when the game shut down it actually showed an error this time .. the error being a -- Null Shader Vertex -- Error.. also in the game log it logged this error.. I figure this is almost definatly a video adapter issue.. I have the most up to date video driver and sound driver for my lap top. As i said iv done pretty much every thing that i can. Thats about all i have for you guys.. hopefully the Error Text i provided will help shed a little light on the situation. Thanks again folks..

Definitely Vid Card or its drivers. What drivers are u using? The defaualt W2k drivers? Don't do that!! Use the graphics cards specific (or updated) drivers. Hope this helps!!

Slim X Private Join Date: Aug 2003 Posts: 9	read below. __________________ FOR PEOPLE WHO SUFFER THE \"CRASH TO DESKTOP FROM LOADING A MAP IN CAMPAIGN\", HERES A NEW SOLUTION THAT MIGHT WORK emphasis on might. RE-INSTALL BF1942 AND DO NOT INSTALL ANY PATCHES. THEN TRY ANY OTHER SOLUTIONS.
