I try to use All-Seeing Eye but sometimes I use the in-game browser either out of convenience (I'm already in the game) or because ASE is saving its resources for registered users (I'll probably wind up registering it one of these days). I have noticed the following annoyances/flaws in the in-game browser:
- Filter/Mod Type options get erased everytime you come back to the browser after being in a server. These should get saved from one running of the game to the next...let alone from joining one server to the next. - Filtering sometimes causes a sorted server list to become unsorted (it should just remove the ones you dont want and leave the rest in the same order they were) - Sorting is SLOW. Especially before putting on filters...but even a list of 1000-some items should be sorted much faster than they are in BF1942 (ASE seems to be able to do it almost instantly). - When chosing to sort by a particular server detail (eg # of players, ping, etc.) The buttons should not be toggle switches for asending/decending order but rather have 2 buttons to click. I often have to click the sort button...sit through the slow sort...then notice they are in the wrong direction (ie asending rather than decending). When the first 200 servers are all empty...scrolling though is a pain so I usually just resort to go to decending. - No favorites list. - Can't cut/copy/paste to or from "Add Server" field.... Writing and retyping IP address is SOOOOOOOOOO fun. - Position in server list is lost when you exit/get disconnected from a server. Wow...maybe I wanted to just go right back in the server I was just disconnected from? I could probably go on if I kept looking. Anyone else feel this way? I think every game should have an im-game browser that works well....at least it doesnt GameSpy Arcade like MOH:AA... GSA is quite possibly the biggest piece of crap ever created. ...Then again The BF1942 browser does say "Powered by gamespy" on it. PS. Another glitch not part of the browser that really pisses me off is when you are playing in a server that has slots reserved with you in one of the "open to the public" slots, but when the map changes you get thrown out and asked for a password..probably because another random person happened to slip in the server while you were reconnecting (I dont get why you cant just stay connected and load the next map) |

Ohhhhh I've long been critical of that IGB and I agree with your points made above (except the ascending/descending thing - I think you mixed those two words up. Ascending means if you sort servers by ping they should be sorted with the lowest ping first, hence ascending - moving up - moving from the lowest to the highest. Descending is when the highest pings show up first).
BTW, here's another doozie: ever try to use two filters together to find nice servers to play on? Like try to click the "sort by ping" and then "sort by map". Technically you should get a list of lowest/highest ping servers listed by map - right? NOT! once you already have a nice list of sorted servers, hitting another filter will clear out the information you had before and do a separate sort. a bit of a pain.
