install problem disc 2 specified component cannot be found

Hi ,

I bought a new BF 1942 CD and while installing it gets stuck at a certain point stating "specified component cannot be found in the media. An attempt was made to access a component that does not exist in the named media." Tried several times

chnaging from DMA mode does not help either

How do I manually extract the RFA files from the CAB file on the CD?

can nebody help. plz

that's it. i hate this game. maybe someone will buy it from me for $25. I got it on amazon for $20. I had the same problem. It stops at 79%, a second after i pop in disk 2. and it looks as if tons of people are having the same problem. this sucks.

The only time I've seen that problem is when I tried to install using a copied version of my game. Using the official cd's worked fine.

Question: Have you installed an other (not official) Version, lets say from a "backup-cd" before?
I believe, that this causes this problem when trying to install from the original cd.
I think, the only sollution is to delete and reinstall the OS.

I had that one....my CD drive was going out....replaced the drive & no more problems
