Default 1.4 patch problem

Okay here is the problem. I have been playin BF, R2R, and DC alot.....I have tried to upgrade to the 1.4 patch, and when I first installed it, it worked just fine. Played online and everything. Then I exited out of it, and tried to load BF later on in the day. To my surprise, it loaded fine, but whenever I would try to load any map, I would get the loading bar, and it would load all the way until it was ready to go into the game, and then all of a suddon, it boots me out to the desktop. Is this a 1.4 problem or what? I tried reinstalling 1.4, and the same thing happens. I have gone back to the 1.31 patch and it works fine once again. Please help.

Computer stats are as follows:

Gigabyte 7DX mainboard
Athlon XP 1800
PNY GeForce3 TI500
768 mbs Crucial PC2700 DDR
Creative Labs Live sound card
3Com 905B NIC
IBM 60 and 40 Gig 7200 RPM HD's
Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback Joystick
Logitech Optical Mouse

Any ideas, please please please let me know.....all drivers ARE up to date....
Thanx,
Joey

well you can wait until some kind soul responds with a specific answer, or do like most of us (yeah its a pain the ass i know) but COMPLETELY
uninstall Bf and delete any folders/directories that are left over before reinstalling. for good measure track down any spyware too.

i have had to to this since 1.25, but it does work.
maybe another poster haas a better idea.
GL!

I have done all of this, and no matter wut I do it won't run....It ran for 6 maps earlier, and nothing since. 1.31 seems to be my best bet, but alas, running 1.31 I can't play on any servers online Sux that they don't make patches backwasrds compatable, but I guess I will just have to live with it.

BTW, I have uninstalled and reinstalled 4 times deleting all folders left over, and even not reinstalling R2R and DC.....still same problem...

wut would you suggest that I check it for? Anything that is related to BF1942, and delete it, then reinstall?

Okay, just to let you know, I have gotten it working....apparently the no-cd crack that I was runnin (for ease of not having to ruin my BF CD's) was bad......took it out, and ran straight off the CD and it works perfectly......Oh well, osomebody will soon put out a good no-cd, until then, I am runnin off the cd.....

good to hear. check out this thread on how to jump right into the game.
the "restart+1" trick has worked for me. it's quicker but you still need the CD.
