Problem binding keys. Not a conflict or save problem, worse.

I'm thinking about buying BF1942 so I downloaded the demo to see if I still like the game (it's been a while since I have played it) and when I go to bind my keys I have a big problem:

In all the sections (vehicle, plane, infantry, etc) and on all the pages, no matter which one I click on to change, it sets it to the letter I. I don't press any keys, just click any box and it sets it to I. It's the weirdest thing.

Any ideas? I don't like the default controls so I want to get them changed. Thanks for any help you guys might have.

You can edit the .con files in the BF directory directly.
