1.4 patch problem plz help (data differs from server)

i have installed battlefield 1942 and when i put the 1.4 patch on it wont let me play any server games because it says (data differs from server) and i am fed up of trying to find a answer to this problem , and i have re-installed the game no mods, plain battlefield 1942 i have tryed all 1.4 patch 1.31-1.4 and it aint working still i would be very greatfull if any1 could help me with this problem i am a huge fan of E.A Games.

Determine which version patch the server is using.

When you uninstall and reinstall, if you don't delete the left over
BF1942 directory in C: you're not really doing a clean install.
Anyways...if you have 1.4, make sure the server is running that too.

im sorry i dont understand really when i uninstall battlefield 1942 i delete everything in battlefield 1942 folder then install it again put 1.4 patch on and run it and it still says the same problem(data differs from server). plz reply

Hey, I have read time & time again re-installing, & this & that. If you didn't have a problem with 1.31, then 1.4 is no different. your problem is simple. The server you are trying to connect to HASN'T downloaded 1.4 Try a server that has, otherwise uninstall 1.4 & stay with 1.31. & connect to servers that are still running on 1.31. Patch 1.4 hasn't been here for long, & alot of servers are slow at upgrading. I hope this helps

Open your mods folder

Under it you should see a file called init.con, open that up with wordpad NOT NOTEPAD. Under SetCustomGameVersion 1.31 change that to 1.4. Of course EA forgot to make a subcheck on whether the file actually updated the init.con or not. If that doesnt work then try getting the 1.31 patch and using the 1.4 incremental patch to update. When running BF the first time make sure the only mod in your init.con is game.addModPath Mods/bf1942

Anything else will cause a crash because the first time you play is when the game makes Logs of everything so mods will screw it all up.

i did what u said open bf1942 in mod folder ,i opened init.con with wordpad and it said :

now what is that what it is supposed to be because it says data differs from server like that?

Well now i have realised i cant even create a internet game besides the fact i cant even join them i just tryed creating a game and it crashed to windows and here i am waiting 4 an answer?

Hey Lindon,sry if I can't help u, swearing at me won't help your problem !!!! I can only tell you wot I did to fix mine!!! Mate, I am computer illiterate, & can still play the game. I live in Australia & logged onto EA GAMES home page to get my incremental download patch from 1.31 to 1.4. Have you tried that? You have to be registered with EA to do it, & have a legitimate copy of the game. If you haven't & you aren't a member, please have the courtesy on this forum to show some respect to people who are trying to help you. Otherwise, as we say in Aus " go screw a Roo"

Are there any previous mods installed on the computer? Like merciless or anything else? In your mods folder is there anything other than Bf1942?

Have you tried downloading all the fixes for bf1942 1.4 from
www.gamecopyworld.com

I had the same problem as you mate, downloaded the 1.4 no cd and server fix and used winrar to paste it over the original files in my bf1942 dir and boom its working fragtastic once again.

Dont know if this will work for you, but it could be worth a try bro.

LINDON HERE MAGPIE thx 4 the advice i will try 1.31 to 1.4 patch again becasue i have tryed it be4 i have all the 1.4 patchs there is the (1.4 full) and the (incremental 1.31 - 1.4 patch) and 1 that makes my game crash called (server only 1[1].4) and dmj1975 where did you get the 1.4 no cd and server fix plz reply thx. its good to know some1 out there is listening and i aint on drugs never tuched the stuff!!!

Toadpe0n i dont have any mods on until it says on battlefield 1942 (data differs from server) i completely wiped my computer clean off mods and re-installed battlefield and it still didnt working im gonna try the 1.31 - 1.4 patch again brb!

Well, I've tried everything mentioned above including editing the registry and deleting all traces of BF.

Nothing works. The NO-CD key, either one of the patches, etc.

I've tried almost everything to connect to Pure Servers and still can't.

Very frustrating 'cause a number of my friends are having the exact same problem. NO MODS, NO Merciless, NO nothing....installed right off the CDs and patched but still the same error.

Any further suggestions????

I have a legit copy of BF and R2R...I've sent emails to DICE for help but no reply.

I'm having the same problems everybody else is mentioning. Even tried playing over lan and still didnt work. We tried every single no-cd patch and stuff on Gamecopyworld and Megagames and nothing worked at all. Really starting to piss us off.
