Air base camping

Why is it people think base camping in tanks is so wrong, when all they do is base camp in the air? I've been in countless games where people threaten to kick me for destroying aircraft in their base with tanks meanwhile all they do is fly over our base and destroy our aircraft. So what their saying is it's okay to base camp in the air but not on the ground.

Well let me be the first to welcome you here.

There is nothing wrong with base camping assuming the rest of the cappable flags have been taken, if not then there are other things to do as your job isn't done yet.

I'd try and contact the admins of that server if you can and ask them in a straight foward way exactly what you did wrong. You would be shocked sometimes of what answers you might get. I play under the name of "The Jerk" and I couldn't tell you how many different admins have banned me. I've been banned at the very entry to a server, after taking gold to many times, after sniping to many pilots who just stand around, spamming bases with arty with no scouts on my team, killing the admin one to many times, leading my team to win(at least I think that's why I got banned that time)... it just goes on and on.

There is a certain problem that BF has about people wanting to fly around and bomb stuff. Some players feel like it is the one and only thing that this game was made for. I'd just keep playing as you see best and keep capping those flags. They can fly all they want as long as you keep winning the rounds on thier server.

I was licked last night from some kid named Bri Dog? or something. I fly over their base, take out some infantry, and get shot down. Fight my way to a vehicle and host says NO BASE CAMPING and precedes to boot me. LMAO What a 'tard. Meanwhile, he's camping the Hell outta our base, in tanks and such. Some morons should not have control of servers.

dude, picus, you should change your name. after a while those admins pry start to recognize a bad guy by the name, and your name makes you look like one. if you dont wanna change it, you should at least make it, the jerk, instead of, The Jerk. most of the bad guys i see have their names capitalized in the correct place. my friend made his name TouchABoobie, (yeah, stupid) and he once got kicked for accidently killing one guy with the gatling gun on the blackhawk on lostvillage. it was a total accident, but they seemed to think he was bad. not that he isnt. he enjoys crashing his helicopter full of men into other friendly helicopters full of people. but, notice, his name is capitalized correctly.

it just makes you look badder than you are, even if your doing nothing wrong.

Prank names are more likely to be Tards, teamkillers etc.
Not that I think The Jerk is a prank name in direct but u know what i mean.

The Nice Guy would get a better reception than The Bad Guy

Oh one thing. I think Basecamping is allright as long as it isnt Hangarcamping. (Repairpad camping sucks to but it`s possible to deal with)

The Jerk is a old name from way back playing TF from Halflife. Strange as it is I find I play much better using The Jerk then I do as Picus. Old habits die hard they say.

While it is true that I might get treated much better if I changed the name I find that my personal game playing style will make up for it. If someone is going to judge a book by its cover there isn't much I can do.

I strive to lead by example and if The Jerk can lead a battle then maybe someone just might notice and therfore play just a little bit better, that in itself helps my game play as well. The Jerk never TK's(well ok even I have shot the odd bot here and there), never shoots a teammates vech, always tries his best to heal or repair(has died many a time doing so), never camps for a vech and tries his best to pickup or scout for teammates.

Man I guess The Jerk is a nice guy, lol.

ok...this happened the other night

El Alemien...Axis STORMED all 3 bases within mins

I was in the Stuka....2 other pubbers in the ME109s

what were we supposed to do? formation flying? air show stunts? sky writing?

we bombed the crap out of anything that moved

and got reamed for "base camping"

you expect us to fall back & give you a base to make it "interesting"? get real

I have no problem with base camping, its a very effective tactic in matches and allowed in leagues.. Hangar camping is gay and I am glad with the changes n 1.4 to it, repair pad camping is "kinda" lame but not all that bad since he has so many vulnerable openings. I've camped plenty of times but I will only use hangars to repair, I will not stay theres as an exploit.

I got kicked form a server for plane camping... the enemy's airfield... while driving through the base without stopping.... and taking potshots at their planes. I've also been TKed for the same thing in DC, because apparently one guy in a light tank moving in a straight line is "raping their base".

THIS, ladies and gentlemen, is THE topic. we've gone over this a million times, and still i feel like giving you my two cents.

all that crap is ok.

base camping, hangar camping, repair pad camping,... it's all good. the team that holds the most tickets at the end wins. cap some flags and then pound their base. if you get base raped as a team, then maybe you should focus on defensive tactics to keep it from happening. all the tools are there... mines panzerschreks, det packs... USE THEM, weave a defensive web of pwnj to make your enemies sorry that they came to your base. keep them occupied there while you cap the spawns. spawn in somewhere else.

and btw it is a pilot's FIRST duty to make sure the enemy has no planes in the air. take them out on the deck or in the wild blue yonder, but keep them from bombing your tanks. on a map like market garden or husky then just pwn pwn pwn

Well (IMO) spawn camping is part og the game, I cant tell you the # of times I have had my ass handed to me in a map from spawn campers. It is part of the game, so we deal with it the best we can, kill the enemy, drive them from your base by killing every last 1 of those nasty little buggers and you wont have to worry about it. rugged_1 said it best, pilots kill enemy aircraft no matter where they may be. If people spent more time killing the nme in their spawn than crying about it, it wouldnt be so bad. This topic =

I totally agree, if your getting base raped its your own fault. You should be as quick as they are and get your defenses set up, go cap some flags and come in from another angle.We played in a match last weekend and they just dominated us by getting to our base and just annihilating us.We should have already been in the sky and took control before they got to us.Do you think in real war someone is gonna say "no fair you took out our base " hell no they would have been protecting the base so no one could get in.

you could always rush them with the knife. we played gazala on a pub last week and this fool in a panzer was ratpacking us in the base, i was out of ammo so i pulled out my knife. the guy must have been a counterstriker, cause he jumped out and wanted to knife fight. so i knifed him and tok his tank.

later in the map, outside of one of the bunkers, i saw him again and he jumped out with his knife, so i shot him with teh no.4 and took his tank.
