Default Game freezes but doesn't crash

I've been playing B1942 for about 6 months now and never had any problems. Last week a weird thing started happening. While I'm playing, the game freezes for about 10-15 seconds then continues (does not restart, just continues where the online game is at that moment.) This will happen about every 5-15 minutes. The game never crashes, just freezes, then continues. You can not even go to the menu. I don't have anything running in the background aside from Norton's anti-virus and a few systray items, but nothing different than I've had in the past 6 months. I haven't installed anything in the last month, hardware or software. I also play Grand Theft Auto, Unreal 2 and Hitman 2 and this does not happen in any of these games or in other programs, only B1942. I uninstalled and reinstalled and also updated video driver but no improvement. Anyone had this problem? Any suggestions?

Default same here

I'm having the same problem. It seems to be happening at different times, but each time it's frozen for like 5 to 20 seconds like you were saying! I've updated ALL my drivers including my VIA 4in1s, flashed my bios and even wiped my HD! Other than that it plays great, considering my specs. And just like you, it used to never happen?!

This is most likely the infamous refreshrate problem.

Go to your BF1942 Directory, then Mods, then Settings, and then open the "VideoDefault.con" by Notepad for example (edit the .con to .txt by renaming the file). Open the file and check this line;

renderer.allowAllRefreshRates 0

make the 0 to 1, save, edit it back to .con ending, and play.

If the game doesn't work after this, I recommend reinstalling the game (and patches too.)

Well, I finally figured out what was wrong. My fan on my video card stopped working. I couldn't really see it without turning my case on its side. I assume it was overheating enough to stop working but not burn up. I ordered a ThermalTake heatsink w/fan to replace it. I didn't want to wait on Chaintech to fix or replace it under warranty. Now the game runs fine with no freezing up. Thanks for the suggestions!
