Default Opinion about Clan-names....

I think that theres something totally wrong in the BF community. Clans or squads (or whatever they call it) keep popping up out of nothing. But thats not bad, its good actually, but what makes me pissed are the uninnovative names.
Everybody keeps calling his clan "1st bataillon" "2nd Geschwader" or "3rd army" to give you just a few examples.
I have to say, i dont find those names atmospheric, or fitting at all, its simply boring. Imagine in clanwars later... who the hell will be able to remember if he played against the 1st , 2nd or 3rd army? i dont think anyone will care actually.
The CE clans all had unique names, and i didnt have a problem remembering their names because they were all unique in some way.

Please, if you think about creating a clan, use your brain, not the ww2 archive....

Ah... The Resistance. Nill. Heavy Metal Army. That kind of clan names

I got a great name for a clan, but I want to join a certain clan instead of creating one. *nudge*

Theres something wrong with setting up clans for a game that doesnt exist, too.

People whove youve already said "i want that person" to may turn out to be completely shit, or vice versa, independant of how well they play other games (although its probably as good a indicator as any)

creating a clan with people you know from other games is okay in my opinion. Even if the game you are recruiting for doesn't exist yet.

But the least you can do is make up an original clanname...

uhmm that is a bit over done...

I was clan leader togheter with DoC in a MOHAA clan called "Wacko" (yup.. another origal name) our tag was >W< ...

If you get tags like : [YJDGFS]->nickname<-[CPT]
I think you name looks like SHIT! ..
Just a short tag: >W< (DC) |M| [HMA] looks the best..
in BF you might could put in a rank behind your name for pilot or soldier or something like that...

The must ugliest tag I ever say was:
__..==<<CPT>>[1stBCFAS]Terminator==..__

I think that demo clans suck and r cheapass clans.. but predemo clans....
It just makes my cry... nobody know eachother skills...

To recruit someone by how he play an other game... or how nice he is via chat isn't a good way

I have to disagree on this, i think were planning to swap over to Battlefield since the clan has been founded (April 2001) and that was not a random thing, Bf is spiritual sequel to CE, and well... all UT clans switch to UT2k3 too as soon as its out, right?

Actually its not really our clan switching, its a whole COMMUNITY switching, because CE will die as soon as BF is out (at least for a couple of months, i will still play it from time to time as soon as i have played Bf 24/7 for a long time)

TR is a CE-BF clan, and it will always stay that way, we wont ever be a BF-only clan, because we cant forget about the amazng times we had in CE.

All hail CE, all hal Dice!

I think Endran meant it's not lame when you switch your CE clan to BF at all...

For an example, I am creating a clan with a GOOD friend of mine from MOH:AA ... We've already thought up the name (not gonna tell ya, but it isn't a quite original name, I admit it ) ... we won't actually start real ACTIVE clan activities (like clan wars, recruiting, etc.) until the FULL game is released (still have no clue regarding WHEN ... could anyone reading this post give me a idea as to WHEN the FULL game is out?) ... what I am trying to reach with this point is that it is COMPLETELY FOOLISH that clans born out of thin air start recruiting people, even if the Beta of BF1942 is not released ... BTW, answering to Endran's post, in my opinion the perfect Tag for a clan would be something like this:
[XPX]Pvt.Nickname

Heheh

I saw a clan once that was called (TNT) ... (no hard feelings TNT)

Tactical Not Tallented ...

I played against them once... no tactic at al, just every man for him self a shoot every "badguy" to pieces...
Damn good fighters, but no tactic at all... or is no tactic charge also a tactic

Actually i disagree in that perspective> A computer game has few of phisical strenth and more of practice > with time and the adequate trainings and knowledge u can turn good. Thats what Happened my Clan is was created more or less when the Demo came out. Since them many abandoned The Clan , but many others arrived and i saw some damm good evolution im my playing and my team mates. Basicaly the 5 elements who started the Clan the 1st ones are still there, many battles were fought and will be fought in the future in MOhaa and Bf1942 i hope wen it cames out.

In reply to the first post, I agree completely. I personally would shy away violently from any clan which felt it had to maintain some 'ranking' system beyond a simple CL and his/her second. But that's me, some people seem to like that sort of stuff. Some of the associated nicks are hilarious as well as Endran pointed out.

/me shrugs

But I really wish clans wouldn't use certain German formation names, like '1st SS' etc. That is either deeply ignorant or sinister imo. I have yet to see them in BF42 yet (thank god) but I remember a few floating around in similar WW2 games like MOHAA.
