Default Grim Reaper needs to relax a bit.

I have been recruiting for my clan here at battlefied nation for about 2 months and I can honestly say you are the most anal moderator I have ever come across. I bow to your "anal-ness" my friend and I hope you don't die too soon with your "through the roof" blood pressure. I won't bother you and this website anymore.

Bumping once a day and sometimes even a week and it's considered "Excessive bumping", give me a break.

Cheers.

I would say that for a clan they can bump once a week, anything over that and it is kind of excessive. Given that the casual browser will check the forums every three days, a seven day rotation is enough to catch anyone.

We have the bump rules in place to ensure that people keep useless bumping to a minimum. I'd consider making a new post in a topic without any additional information unnecessary.

Therefore we limit the frequency of these posts to prevent the Clan forums from turning into a spam-fest.

The rules have now been amended to make this matter clearer.

"Clan recruiting topics may be 'bumped' once per month." thats kinda gay (no offence), well if i post in this forum but once a month you know where it'll be.

It keeps things in balance. There's lots of clans out there.

1nce a month does sound a bit too long, but idk.

To the powers that be: You are the only site that is so anal about this. I post on TWL, Planetbattle Field, Total BattleField 2 Forums, BF2S Forums and have never comce across any troubles with regards to bumping.

Bumping is not spamming. Spamming is when you're on the 1st page and see more than one of the exact same thread. Bumping allows a potential recruit to see that the thread is still current. "They're still looking for recruits, let me check them out". Not just recruitment, but as a topic in general. No one is going to give a damn about a thread that was last posted 30 days ago, especially a recruit.

My $0.02, but hey it's your forums and you make the rules.

Hi,

I'm sorry you feel this way about our rules. The reason we have this policy is because quite frankly people find it annoying to be told that there are new posts in a forum, only to find that it's a bump.

However, we are developing some tools that will benefit clans, since I personally feel that in the past we've let down what is a major part of the Battlefield community.

I hope you'll continue to visit our forums, and take part in the new system when it's finished in the near future.

Thanks.

I agree with you on a month being a little long, but our clan forum isn't all that active. Theres post on the first page from "Mon, 23 Jan, 2006 7:53."
Going at that rate you're thread will be a little over halfway down the page after a month. I do understand your point of showing people you are still active and I think that you should just continue what you are doing with having other people from your clan post. If you are concerned about keeping it active, just have 3-4 people from your clan continue a conversation in the thread or something.

Sorry, I found that humourous, and had to say so.
