Bring the Rep System (Contribution Points) Back

If I remember correctly, BFN used to have a "contribution points" system where if someone posted a good post or something, they would get "contribution points" for it, improving their reputation on the boards. This would make the boards a whole lot more interesting, and would definitely bring people to post more. A good example of a rep system would be the forums at bodybuilding.com, http://forum.bodybuilding.com/forumdisplay.php?f=19. It is a whole lot of fun to rep people for good posts or neg rep them for dumbass posts.

First of all, why was the contribution points system removed? and second of all, if the contribution points system was to be brought back, which kind of system would you guys rather have? the old contribution points one, or the bb.com "rep" system one?

With the bb.com one, you do not have infinite points to give out. you have to "charge up" by accumulating reps, and you can use these to give to other people. However, your rep points never decrease from giving them out to other people, only by someone "neg-repping" you, unlike the old contribution points system. With the contribution points system, your reps would go down if you gave them to someone i believe.

I really think the rep system should be put into place here. It would make the boards a whole lot more fun.

I like the idea, since i often post news in the forums. But i can't vote since i do not no what the old one was like to compare it to the bb one

The contribution points were only used for 1337 mods and admins to give them selves 1337 status.

The Rep system is going to be really gay if it's going to be like the old one. with the old one you lose points if you give them to people which is gay. you should keep your points unless someone neg reps you.

vBulletin has a reputation system built in, it's just not active at the moment. I'll set it up tonight and see if people like how it works.

great; coincidentally the bb.com forums are vBulletin as well, so the rep system ought to be the same. just be sure to make it where your Rep points don't decrease if you pos rep someone, only if you yourself are neg repped.
