Comments?

For articles (and a lesser extent news posts) do you not think it would be could to have a way to comment on them. Maybe a seperate forum that has topic in for all the news posts?

It should probably go under the "Other" section of the forum, or maybe as a sub catagory under the BF 2 section, since that is where the most recent news goes currently.

ah, well then it should go under the category that it is posted as; ie: BF2 -> BF2, BFV -> BFV, BF42 -> BF42, Misc -> Off Topic, Mods -> General Mods; and so on and so forth

I think i've suggested a plugin that takes a thread from a certain forum from the phpbb and puts them on the front page. Then, anyone who then replys to that thread shows up in the "comments" section on the front page. I've seen it for both phpbb and InvisionBoard.

That's it. I know I had a hard time getting it to work, but that was awhile ago. I think this is worth trying out: that way it would be easier to manage the news posters by just creating a News Usergroup and having them the only ones allowed to post a thread in the news forum, but have everyone able to post a reply.

Thread name = Headline
Post = Content
Replys = Comments

As far as having different catagories, you might want to look into that. I'm sure there's a way.

I actually think it is fine the way it is now, if anyone wants to comment on news then they can make a thread about it, if there isn't allready one made by the newsposter or a thread that the news post came from.

It's definately fine the way it is now. I was just giving some suggestions as to how we can make things better or more efficiant.

Also, I'd like to know what program you guys use for news posting. Looks like a simple, yet complex, type of php scripting.

Contributors do a fine job. Bort tended not to review his spelling at times, no big deal, we forgive him that.

I think it was Bort who made the news program, it is a good system and very easy aswell
